That was my thought process, but not hers. I get where she's coming from, but I wish she would accept my offer to buy the $80 ones from ebay, instead of the $200 pair (that looks exactly the same) from Halls.

It is kind of weird she seems to constantly be shaking you down and it always involves money. that seems like something a broke dick sibling would do, not your lady.

Also, buy the ebay ones and tell her you got them at sunglass hut and they were a display set.

She is right, though. You do technically owe her for those sunglasses. However, you need to make her prove the actual value of the sunglasses you lost, because it is not full-retail price. Make her show you what identical used sunglasses in similar condition have been selling for recently on the secondary market. If she tries to cherry pick and find the highest asking price for a used pair, go Rick Harrison on her ass. Oh yeah? That's probably why they haven't sold, BOOM.

I think emailing that discussion is fine. Sometimes that type of conversation is better because you can think a little about what you're saying before the other person receives it, (and we know our guy wacky has said some stuff he didn't mean in an off the cuff convo). It's weird that she demands you replace something that was essentially yours but whatever.

Also, those ebay sunglasses are probably knockoffs and not worth $80.

Yeah, but they're sunglasses she wasn't even using any more. Everyone loses sunglasses and it's ridiculous for her to care about this pair when he bought her a replacement already.

(Unless wacky is leaving out some info, like if the pair lost was a different style than the new pair or something.)
