MC- any suggestions?  I mostly use my phone for email, text, web stuff.  Don't talk much.

wait for evo 4g on sprint

pissclams (or whoever), would htc evo 4g be worth getting if living in place (manhattan, ks) where 4g coverage isn't available.  i guess the 3g stuff would still work right?

Yeah, Omaha has never been mentioned for 4g either but I'm still prolly going to get it if the plans are the same price.  The snapdragon and android were the things I was really waiting for.

Absolutely. 4G is really just icing on the already-delicious cake. It's the phone itself that you should be drooling over.

Also, as has been noted a lot, it is the only phone with 4g which is basically meaningless to me but would be a big deal if you lived in one of the places that has it/will get it.

FYI, if you are partial to Verizon at all, they will be rolling out a new HTC Android phone by the end of April.  The HTC Incredible isn't quite as cool as the EVO 4G (no 4G, no front camera), but has similar specs other than that.

Quote
1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
Android 2.1, Sense UI
Camera: 8MP with AF, flash
Memory: 576MB RAM/512MB ROM
8GB Internal Storage, expandable via microSD
Screen: 3.7-inch AMOLED at 480×800.
Dimensions: 4.63×2.30×0.47 inches.
Weight: 4.6 ounces with battery.
Battery: 1300 mAh
aGPS, Digital compass, Proximity Sensor, Light sensor
Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
3.5mm headphone jack

Not quite the EVO 4G, but not bad for Verizon either.  Definitely an upgrade from my Touch Pro.

The fact that it's only $200 is pretty great too

True.  $200 is pretty sweet.

And why does Sprint announce the EVO 4G, but then wait months until you can buy it?

It's a simple marketing strategy, to let the anticipation build. IIRC, Jobs announced the iPhone well before its launch. It's not uncommon.

I don't hate 4.3" screens. In fact I want one really badly. I hate 3.7" screens, since they're not what I want, though.

I get that, but when will phones become too big?  The EVO will be nearly 5 inches long.

Just do the IPad thing and get Skype, like someone said in that thread.
