One of my co-workers has a boy who plays soccer with a kid who is the nephew of a former world record holder in the 100 meters. Kid is super fast. Sounds like Fedor Jr. should be giving him some training tips.

dobberette: DNP, she was sick. Team lost 0-1. She wants to quit. I am actually considering it. I don't think she finds any enjoyment in it at all. Thoughts on letting her quit?
EDIT: in season. She can quit at the end of the season. I'm not a barbarian.

dobberjr, won 2 games. 4-0 and 5-1. No goals. Played really well. Their possession is off the charts. In the first game our goalie did not touch a ball in play during the entire first half. He retrieved one ball that rolled out the back and placed it on the line for somebody else to take the free kick. I didn't have a watch on it, but 90% possession would be pretty close.

toddlerdobber was given a bunch of handmedown dinosaurs by one of the soccer moms. Lots of sparring between Dino's and some rawrs could be heard throughout both games. Also played tag with some of the dads but would always fall down when they were getting close to tagging him. He might be a flopper.

if you tell lil sd we will do that tomorrow you may as well be saying we will do that when you are 80 years old. out of batteries for the bubble machine but we'll pick some up tomorrow and play with it then = we're throwing it in the garbage along with all of your other toys and the only activity you can do for the rest of your life is math problems in doors.

Yep, when Dmartinette was little, the only concept of the past she had was "yesterday".  "we went to the fair yesterday" "my birthday was yesterday" "remember when it snowed yesterday"  all in the same day.

i still have an issue with the concept of time. like, sometimes entire days just disappear.

Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future.

Back to the task at hand:

DmartinJr's team had a hard fought victory this weekend. Back and forth defensive battle for the first 34 minutes of the game (18 minute halves) with his team finally scoring in the last 2 minutes to win the game 1-0. Definitely the most difficult game they have played in a few seasons.

Dmartinette's team played my nemesis again. Jumping out to an early 2 goal lead, only to watch the lead slip away into a tie. But they pulled it out in the second half, pulling away to a 4-2 victory. Nemesis coach was heard to be screaming "where's my damn defense" and "you're playing like a bunch of third graders" during the game. Note, team is made up of 3rd and 4th graders (most my team is 3rd graders).

My highschool daughter (would that be DmartinTeenEtte?) is throwing around the idea of playing Soccer next year for the high school instead of running track. She's fed up with track, was running three events at varsity level earlier this year, and has been reduced to one event (and that being her worst event of the three). I wouldn't complain, would rather sit there for an hour and watch soccer for an hour, then sit there for 5 hours and watch 30 seconds of running.

Dmartinette finished out her season this weekend, pulling off a dominating 3-0 victory to finish the season undefeated. Only real chance the other team had to score was on a penalty kick (first half goalie forgot she wasn't goalie in the second half and dived on the ball resulting in the penalty kick) but our second half goalie came up with a great save on the penalty kick. Dmartinette didn't score this game, but was excellent at passing, stealing, and (very important to me) staying on the correct side of the field and not playing bunch ball.  Took the whole team out for ice cream after the game to celebrate the season. Humorously, we played the "yellow" team this weekend, and after joking about beating the bananas all game, someone actually brought bananas as an after game snack.

DmartinJR's team stomped the competition, winning 8-1. The only goal allowed rolled right between DmartinJr's hands and legs in what seemed to be slow motion. We gave him so much crap for that, but all in good fun, he had plenty of great goal saves. His final game is next weekend and another season will be in the books.

Great recap! I haven't posted in a while but will catch everyone up shortly, including a League LAX Championship with toddlerdobber yelling "go Dobberjr" most of the second half, even though Dobberjr was not on the field until the last 70 seconds.

I took dobberjr and toddlerdobber to the girls middle-school league championship soccer game last night. Jr's school won 4-0. They are on a 56-0 streak dating back 4 years. One of the parents said, "COACH X is building a monster."

Dobberette's soccer career is likely coming to an end. Her team lost last week 0-4 and the week before that 0-7. They are going to a tournament this weekend, and then the season is over and the team she is on is dissolving.

Weekend before last, dobberjr's Ninjas went to a tournament and took 2nd. Got beat 1-4 to start things off, but actually scored 2 own goals in the loss. They bounced back and won 5-1 later that afternoon. The next day they played a very strong team and were down 0-2 at half. Really took it to the next level in the second half and came away with a 4-3 win. Probably the best soccer the team has played all year. Dobberjr had a goal and a really sweet assist. In the finals, they played a superior team. It was 0-1 at half, but they played the entire half in the defensive third. The wheels came off in the second half and they lost 0-5. The Ninjas were actually playing up a level in this tournament, so they felt pretty good about their performance.

I forgot, how old are the dobber kids again?

And indeed, Coach X may already have built a monster.

Man I sort of forgot about the existence of this thread so I guess it's time to come in here drop a dobberbrag of my own.  Brockette pitched both games of a doubleheader last night and her team run ruled the other team in both games.

an awesome middle school team usually means state championship in high school. coach X should start trying to get a job at that high school.

At a tournament this weekend. Both kids' teams are in it.
Had 4 twelve year old boys in van last night. I learned that bae means poop in Danish. Toddlerdobber wanted in on the joke, so it was nonstop "Guys GUys GUYs GUYS GUYSSS!!!! I was doing xxxxx and I had a bae!" Classic Toddlerdobber.

Dobberjr's Ninjas are playing up an age group. 11v11 for the first time for most of the boys. They won this morning 3-0. 0-0 at half and Dobberjr had a nice cross for the first goal. They played pretty good soccer in the 2nd half.

Dobberette's Lightning team played one of the better teams in the state. A team that beat them 0-7 a couple of weeks ago. They played well. Down 0-2 at half. Ended up losing 0-5. Dobberette played a little better, but still thinking that this weekend could be the end of her soccer career.

Dobberettes team lost 0-4. This dumpster fire has become an out of control raging forest fire.
Dobberjr's team lost 1-4. They played like crap the first 20 minutes. Played to a draw from that point. They are doing pretty good with keeping their shape and space. Need to get the ball off their feet quicker.

Boys lost their Sunday game 1-2 and didn't make it out of their pool. They played well for playing up an age group and their first time at 11 v 11. Kids evidently grow A LOT between 12 and 13. Dobberjr's speed wasn't superior to most of the other team's kids, and as I said earlier, the boys need to get the ball off their feet. It was a lot of fun.

Dobberette's team also lost 1-2. They scored first and should have had a second, but the ref said the ball didn't cross the line completely. The goalie's body language said otherwise, as did my own eyes. The other team then had a equalizer and the go ahead goal was a boomer from midfield on a rebound. The girls played hard all weekend dobberette said she wants to play rec soccer (down a level) next fall. This is a good move for her.

Got home last evening in time to change and go to the School Sports Appreciation Night. Dobberjr had the girls cheering for him everytime his name was called. He was all embarrassed. Two of the coaches even said something about dobberjr being a crowd favorite. The other parents were talking to us about it afterwards. I guess what I am trying to say is, "I am going to have my hands full!" (and dobbberjr may have his hands full pretty soon, too!  :fatty:"

Welp, Brockette pitched two more games last night trying to help her team get to state but the season is over.  In the first game she totally imposed her will on the other team and gently curbstomped their postseason hopes and dreams.  In the sub-state finals the other team was just too good.  Their pitcher was dominant and was flinging subsonic laser darts over home plate all night.  She even knocked one of Brockette's pitches out of the park.  I'm not sure what the female version of Silverbacking is but that was probably a good example of it.  Still a good season for her and I'm impressed with how she improved her pitching abilities as the season progressed.    :gocho:

Guys, soccer has started!
dobberjr's middle school team won 5-2 last night. Some great possession soccer in the final third. dobberjr played right centerback. He did a great job. Team looks to better than last year.

Ninjas are in a tournament this weekend. Lost the first game this morning 3-5. dobberjr did not play well in the first. He stepped back to play the back of a 3-3-3-1 position and the other team scored 2 goals fairly quickly. He was out of position badly on one attack and he lunged at another attacker and got beat on the second goal. He was pretty down. The Ninjas made it a game in the second half after being down 1-3 at half. The second goal came following dobberjr making a couple of nice moves and then afterburners injected and he blew by his guy towards the goal and made a short cross to his teammate for an easy goal. That was quickly followed by another dobberjr speed move where he finished it on his own acrossed the goalie to the far side. Two minutes later a handball in the box had the Ninjas poised to even it up, but the PK attempt went hard off the cross bar. Pressing up over the final couple of minutes led to a breakaway by the opposition and a goal as time expired.
Maybe dobberjr read the article about the 11 year old softball girls who threw the game, and he decided to play lousy defense so he would have to play back there again?!?!?

Played really well tonight against a team that was very good offensively. Won 4-1. Dobberjr scores the fourth on one of his amazing breakaways where he beats the last guy and then takes it right at the goalie. Tonight, he faked a shot with a hesitation move and the goalie went to his knees. At that point, toddlerdobber could have rolled it past the goalie.

They won the first game on Sunday. 2-0. Thoroughly dominated the other team, just struggled with attacking in the final third. The possession was very good. dobberjr assisted on one of the goals and created nearly every attempt the team had.

Ninjas lost the last game of the tourney 2-4. They were ahead 2-0 at half. dobberjr assisted both goals. He is playing pretty good soccer. MLS is probably hearing rumblings. The team had 2 subs for the tourney and they just couldn't engage in the last game after halftime. No gas left in the tank.
