Boy3 came to Boy2's game today, and only ran onto the field once! We had the last game on that field for the day and so he got to play on the field for at least half an hour. He was wearing some hand me down cleats and shin guards, and was just going end to end putting the ball into the back of the net.

Boy2's U6 4v4 team won 22-0 (estimated). They're playing up against U7 teams this year and just chicken winging teams left and right.

SleepFighter boys are studs!

Dobberjr Ninjas won 6-0. Jr is really playing balls out aggressive. The opposing coach was yelling at the ref about jr. Jr yelled back at the opposing coach, "what did I do?" with a pretty great shoulder shrug. I am pretty sure MLS teams are going to be calling any day.
Toddler did pretty great with the Easter egg sharing. He even ran an extra egg out to a little girl as we were getting ready to leave.
Dobberette found some diamonds on mine craft and she said it was the best day of her life. Oh brother.

Time to join up in this thread again for another season....

DMartinJr's team won their first game of the season 4-1. DMartinJr was only scored on once (played goalie the entire game) and that was on a shot he dived at but just barely missed. Had a really good stop and take away when he threw himself at the other team's forward and landed on the ball. No fear there.

DMartinEtte's team also won their first game of the seaon 1-0 (but should have been 3-0 or 4-0).  Have to work on not stopping before you shoot on goal, and not dribbling until within a foot of the goalie before taking your shot. Only had one substitute player, so pretty much ran all my players into the ground. But hey, at 1-0 on the season, we're already ahead of last season when we tied every game going into the last weekend (and won both).

You are underselling your kids' eliteness. I am pretty sure your kids are destined for USA National Teams.

If the rain stays away, Dobberette has 4 games this weekend and Dobberjr has 2.
We had a bunch of rain and snow that caused a bunch of postponed games early in the season, now they have to make them up.

On Saturday, the Ninjas are going to play with 7 because 5 kids are out of town. I am looking forward to this, as I think playing a man down on offense will require dobberjr to have to take over and score a goal or two on his own with nothing more than his athleticism and talent. Screw team play, WE ARE A MAN DOWN! GET OUT THEIR AND GET US A GOAL!

I look forward to reporting back on some really high level individual soccer play. If anybody knows any talent scouts, send them to NC this weekend.

Well it looks like we may have some decisions to make in the future, obviously football and basketball eliteness is a proven point.  But now Fedor jr. is now a track star as well.  He got some first and seconds in his very first meet, long jump was a little lagging.  But it turns out that the meet was the first time he had jumped into the pit full speed (coaches!  :shakesfist:).  His 4x200 relay is a collection of (mostly) studs.  They dropped the baton (coaches!  :shakesfist:),  picked it up and won by at least ten yards.  He is nursing ankle pain right now.  Tall kid/fast growing kids seem to have some issues with tissues keeping up with their bones.  We have been through Seiver's already and this seems similar.

Totally underrated.  I ask you Dobber, have you ever found diamonds on MineCraft??  Freaking awesome.

At my wife's indoor soccer game. There's a bar overlooking the field. I think they're winning. Fun!

One of the mom's brought a huge container of matchbox cars on Saturday. Toddlerdobber was in heaven. I don't think he yelled one word of encouragement at the Ninjas. He elected to go with me to dobberettes 2nd game on Sunday, I think he wanted to see the other toys that the little kids might bring.
Also, he whispered twice on Sunday that he had to go pee. I took him to the edge of the park behind some trees and told him it was natures portapotty.  He thought that was funny.

Dobberette scored a goal in the first game on Saturday! They won 5-2! They tied the second game on Saturday 1-1. Lost first game on Sunday 0-4. We drove all the way to the field for the second Sunday game and they cancelled it 30 minutes before kickoff. Parents were pissed. It had been raining all afternoon and there was no sign of a break in the forecast. Dobberette said she may play again in the fall. Scoring a goal and winning a game changes a lot of things.

Dobberjr lost on Saturday playing down a man for the entire match. He got tackled hard (foul called) and hit his head and had to come out for about 10 minutes. So they played down 2 men for 10 minutes. After expert evaluation on the sideline, they let him go back in and he scored the only goal in 1-4 defeat. He wasn't happy.
They bounced back with a win on Sunday 5-1. He played a little tentative. He has a cold and I think the hard tackle shook him a bit. It all led to less than his best effort. Need to toughen him up.

Ninja coach's son got tackled hard at the end of the game on Saturday and was acting hurt. He is the best flopper on the team. His dad wasn't having any of it and did not leave the bench when he yelled, "Get up!" The boy finally stood up long enough for the ball to be played in and the final whistle to blow. It sounds kind of mean, but it was pretty awesome from my perspective.

Sorry for that long post. There were a lot of games last weekend!

I talked to dobberjr's coach last night re: camp options for the boys this summer. It then drifted to our plans for next year. Move up to higher level? Stay at this level as the team moves up to 11v11? That type of thing. I asked him for his honest feedback on if dobberjr would be able to excel at the next level or not and if he was ready at this point. Dobberjr's coach said, "He can definitely succeed at the next level. He has the most upside of any of the boys on the team."

This is what I've been trying to tell you guys all along. I am dealing with a phenom here. The question really is, "At what point do I unleash him on the entire soccer world?"

I think he has to go through the coach first, I am guessing that is the hold up. (NOT COMPLAINING!)

You need to post more about your studs. You have to do it in an over-the-top sort of bragging method where people don't actually believe that you are bragging, but deep down, you know believe everything you are writing. I think you were getting the hang of it with your last post, but lay off "complaining about coaches" bs. This thread is about winners, not about excuses.

The coach complaining was tongue in cheek, I thought everyone would recognize it a such.  Here is a report from the last track meet last night;  This was an invitational, where only the absolute studs of the studs are allowed to compete.  There were a whole bunch of teams including lots of big schools with some fast kids.  You are allowed to compete in four events, and wouldn't you know, four medals and four PRs.  And he is still nursing the bad ankle, btw....  Fedorette sat in the stands and cheered her brother on while reading a Rick Riordan book and then later stayed up in bed to an undetermined hour drawing pictures of Hecate and Aphrodite.

I haven't written at all about boy1 on this blog yet, so here goes. Anyway, he is a confirmed stud. He is playing in club soccer for the first time this spring season, after having shot/dribbled the cover off the ball in rec with me as his coach for the past several years. And he is continuing to dominate, playing predominantly at center-mid, while moving to center-back late in tight games as the youth soccer equivalent of sending in HDH.

His coach is a guy in his 20's who is all about winning. Last weekend, Colombia (team name) had a 3 goal lead in the first half when our starting center back tried to clear the ball, but instead sent it right across the middle to a lone opponent who put it into the back of the net. Coach yelled out, "Nice job. That was the best cross I've seen all day!" Man oh man, it was right out of the Frank Martin playbook. No confirmation on whether he told the kid that he would burn his house down with him in it at halftime. Boy1 ended the game with 0 goals, but 4 (!) assists in an 8-6 shootout. Easily the highest scoring game of the year.

I got off the phone about an hour ago with the one of the DoCs of the club. He wants to place boy1 as a play-up on a D1 (highest level of local club soccer for his age group) select team next year. Pretty cool, but would be a bit of a logistical nightmare, as well as a doubling the cost of playing. Quite the pickle.

This morning boy3 didn't want to go to daycare, but I told him it was SoccerShots day, and he jumped up, ran to his room, and got his clothes on. They came down and said, "Hurry up! I don't want to miss SoccerShots!"

Forgot last weekend's update:

DmartinJR's team won 4-0. Other team was on average 6 inches taller than our team, but still couldn't compete.  I've started to notice a trend at his games. Everyone plays calm in the first half, but when the second half rolls around and DmartinJR's team is up by 2, then the other team starts getting angry, starts fouling (of course any foul is rarely called) and starts playing even worse, leading to more scoring. DmartinJR may have a future in coaching, really enjoys barking out directions from the goal.

Dmartinette's team had two games last weekend. Had to play without Dmartinette though, sick at home with a 101 degree fever and was she was very angry that she wasn't able to play. Won the first game 3-1 against the coach that nobody likes (and the main reason I started coaching). Only goal gave up was on a penalty kick after a handball. Won the second game 2-0. Actually got to see a 3rd grade girl pulled from the game after her fourth two handed shove in about 30 seconds.

This weekend, DMartinJR plays the other team from his school, apparently much trash talk has been going back and forth this season. And Dmartinette has a rematch against the coach we dislike.

if you tell lil sd we will do that tomorrow you may as well be saying we will do that when you are 80 years old. out of batteries for the bubble machine but we'll pick some up tomorrow and play with it then = we're throwing it in the garbage along with all of your other toys and the only activity you can do for the rest of your life is math problems in doors.

Yep, when Dmartinette was little, the only concept of the past she had was "yesterday".  "we went to the fair yesterday" "my birthday was yesterday" "remember when it snowed yesterday"  all in the same day.

Quick weekend update:  fedorjr; 4 more medals
fedorette; watched cat videos in the stands for 4 hours
fedor; snuck out of the track meet to visit a brewery and later got to a 4.
