Brian Mitchell is #2 all time in APY and I don't think anyone believes he will be anywhere near the HOF. Sproles has the best all purpose season of all time, #2, Derrick Mason.

Sproles has better TD and Yards from scrimmage than Mason, and better return TD, yards, and averages than Mitchell. He is the ultimate hybrid and he's not done yet, HoF likely imo.

Can you seriously not see the difference between Sproles and the hall of famers on that top 10 list?

i don't understand football all that well but i don't get how that happens with the sherman/lockett thing.
are the dudes not paying attention or what?  lockett was on the opposite side of the field from sherm.

Just because punters are supposed to kick it toward one side or the other doesn't mean they will.  So, the coverage team watches what the return team does in reaction to the ball and adjusts to that.  That is why Sherman, though running back, waited to the last moment to reach for the ball.  (Sherman's catch was pretty good, that could have been easily muffed).

fair enough but maybe it's about time that the punt team begins paying a little bit of attention to things on the field b/c my gosh that would be embarrassing.
punter kicks the ball, everyone look up, find the ball, and then run to where it went and tackle the guy.  X's and O's from clams.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Yes, but there are almost 300 Hall of famers and Darren deserves to be one of them if he has a couple more good years. He hasn't played on championship teams, that's the main  thing holding him back. Big playoff games help the cause.

People actually think career backup RB and very good return specialist Darren Sproles is a Hall of Famer? Really? Might as well throw Dave Meggett in there while we're at it

I mean, Sproles did have over 1000 yards from scrimmage one (1) year.

People always confuse the HOF with the Hall of Pretty Good.

If Sproles gets 11 more return TDs (career total 8), he'll catch Devin Hester!

And if Hester gets 3000 yds and 40 td he can catch sproles stats from scrimmage.

If Sproles had a five to seven year window of 1,000 yards from scrimmage in addition to his special teams success he would have a legitimate shot, imo. Fact is he truly only has one great season.

He is a valuable player and a memorable one, especially to fans of teams he's played for, he isn't a HOF'r.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Sproles is a stud and great ex cat along with known supporter of gE.com (I think) but he is not HOF worthy.

So you think a career third down back and a top 10 all time returner should be one of the top 300 players in the over 100 years of professional football in this country?

If he keeps it up for a few years, ya imo. Not a lock but he's one of the best hybrid rb/returner ever. I was just pointing out that he has a better career as an offensive role player than any great returner.

I'd been thinking they might not even know who he is, but what you said is probably much more on point.

If Sproles reaches 20,000 all purpose yards, I'd put him in the Hall.
