Someone walk me through exactly how to make my desktop elite.  I downloaded rainmeter and gave up after about 4 minutes of jacking with it.  I have windows 7.  Screen size is 1920 x 1080.  Feel free to show examples or ask me questions about my likes/dislikes......... GO!

yes, minimalist but I want to have everything right there and easy to get to/see.  Is that possible to do?

Like, here is my current:

I like how it looks but I've seen a lot that have cool stuff all built in like some that asava posted previously in this thread.  I kinda want something like that.  Also I hate the calandar and weather thing on Windows 7 and want one that looks better.

What is "everything"? You don't seem like a guy who cares about ram usage or network traffic.

To be honest, I used to be into desktop customization, but whenever I'm at my computer, everything is maximized on both screens. Kind of a waster of time for me.

sometimes the essential things to a desktop aren't really the desktop at all, they stem from basic utility programs that change how you use your computer as an interface. one of the greatest (free) applications in the world to me is quicksilver on mac. at its base, it is a launch program, however it is so much more than that if used to its maximum.

i haven't used windows in a while, but I do remember that there was something similar called "launchy" or something along those lines. don't know if its still the way to go in that medium. programs like quicksilver and launch allow you to create individual work spaces, and absolutely clean desktops. enabling better customization because your access no longer relies on a mouse.

oh and here is my current...

Your hound dog looks nice.  I would like to pet him.

oh yeah, i forgot about the pedobear. thats just an icon i picked for my chat client, adium.

the ugly box is actually album artwork that animates itself while music is playing, and tells me the track title, artist, etc. it also allows me to control my itunes in an easy manner. its called bowtie. to add: you're an ugly box.

the new beta is much much better than anything they've put out. digsby was good before they got money hungry and ruined it with ads and stuff. I just liked using adium due to it being very easy to make it look sexy.
