What a weird thing.  I mean I know how to swim and I have access to a pool, and yet I pay someone $100 to teach my kids how to swim.   lol smh.

it's a summer activity for mom's to pay babysitters to babysit their kids in a swimming pool so they can talk with their friends for an hour.

pretty much.

i was a lifeguard for 5 years, swam competitively in hs, and for a year in college, taught swimming, etc.  but this summer i've paid for lessons.  this forces me to take my kid to the pool every day for two weeks. the only pool i have regular access to is the YWCA, which is way too hot and wouldn't go regularly enough to teach him, and i think he listens to someone else better than he listens to me anyway.

my town has free swim lessons for all kindergarteners that live there. It's great and something that everyone should do at some point in their life both for safety and because who doesn't like swimming.

why would anyone think paying for swim lessons is a bad idea or something just for socializing moms? good grief.

i was generalizing and can say that without a doubt a good percentage of kids are taking swimming lessons because it's an activity in the summer that the parent can take the kid to and not have to worry about them for an hour.

if you pay for swimming lessons you should also pay for riding a bike lessons

did you not see the social aspect/kids out of school for the summer and mom's need a break to hang out w/ their buds for an hour and gossip post that i made? seems like maybe you didn't.

i usually scroll through your posts...

also, i took swimming lessons as a kid and then one year the lifeguard or whatever said she wasn't going to pass my friends and i up to the next group because of our size. we were like "uh, we can swim better, faster and further than everyone in that group already". she was like "yeah but you guys are still just too small". we quit and never went back. what a joke that was.

$100 for swimming lessons.

_33 must live in Beverly Hills.

2 kids @ $48 apiece for 6 lessons.  What if they still can't swim after the 6 lessons?

$8 an hour for babysitting seems like a decent rate to me. what kind of screws you is the whole two kids thing cause now it's $16/hour which is more than you should be paying for a babysitter.

swim lessons, like birth control for teens, should be a free service from the government IMO

How is it that people don't instinctively know how to tread water?  I get not being able to do a butterfly stroke, but c'mon...

Also, people who can't whistle.  I'm like, "Oh, you can't do this?  :whistle1: (complicated symphonic arrangement)"

If you haven't spent an entire day as the only adult with multiple children, you can't understand how valuable activities like swim lessons are. rowdy boy nailed it. Plus, its a valuable life skill everyone should have.

Yeah, your daughters are less likely to be giving pool HJ's if they can't swim, so maybe you want to reconsider letting them take swim lessons?

It is threads like this that has me hoping I lack the spermies to ever have children.  I hope the many years of pot smoking has left me shooting blanks (or just two-headed sperm that swim in circles).

My kids are in swimming lessons this week.  First day, they do evaluations to see which level to put you in.  the instructors said if you knew how to swim already, go ahead and jump in the deep end and swim across the pool.

My youngest jumps right into the deep end with all the bigger kids and stud swimmer young kids.  But, he can't swim for crap. He apparently nearly drowns.

My oldest kid was like "I told him not to jump in the deep end!"  Ballsy little rough rider.

Kinda pissed that they just took a little kid's "word for it" that he could swim though.  Scary.

They are learning how to swim and the consequences of being a liar.  Seems like a good deal assuming no drownings.
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.
