this was a tricky situation, a draw and we could have gotten blown out and still advanced so I can kinda see why

I think we just pretty well proved to the rest of the world that we are a better soccer club than Portugal, so we really shouldn't have anything to worry about in the Round of 16. Whoever we end up playing will be terrified of our group of studs, and rightfully so, and even if they choose not to forfeit, the game will just be a formality, really. We should be looking ahead and talking about who we want to face in the Round of 8. Argentina could get messy.

isn't it weird how like america didn't even really care about soccer until the last couple decades and now we've mumped around and found ourselves in the top 16 of the whole world? Is there anything that we can't be awesome at? Are we just that much better than everyone else?

Outside of a few weirdos, we didn't even care about soccer until last Monday. It's amazing how far we have come in less than 2 weeks' time. Truly remarkable.

I love reading through the list of countries who probably love soccer that aren't in the sweet 16. wish I could prance around in front of them with a soccer ball and a usa flag all like a soccer guy with kicks and head bounces and stuff.

It's like, in a lot of countries, all they have is soccer. It's the one thing they can feel proud about. And we're trying to take that away from them. God we're awesome.
