I'm not going to lie, I don't understand how the field is "quicker" when it's wet like the commentators are saying. :dunno:

On balls played through air it is but not balls played on the ground. I assume that's what they mean.

Maybe "quick" is just soccer lingo for "slick".

That makes more sense. I'm used to football where wet fields supposedly slow down faster teams.

Yeah, and wet golf courses slow balls down, too, so I have no idea how a wet soccer field would play faster.

when it's wet but not soaked, the ball tends to "skip" more than grip.  if it's soaked, then yeah it gets slow and nasty - fine balance

the ball skips on the first few bounces, thats what they mean.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

I bet the ball skipping would help the Germans, but this field is soaked. It's going to be slow and nasty, and those Germans just won't be able to cope. USA wins 1-nill.

How funny will it be if we lose like 5-0 but Ghana and Portugal draw so we just turn right back around and start celebrating?

Do you think the Royals shipped the team some of Billy's BBQ sauce to eat at their post-game celebratory banquet?

does play always stop when a penalty is committed?
