You would be better off going to a good barber and paying him for the works if it is only on a rare occasion that you are going for the clean shave.

If you indeed get the electric razor you def. need

It makes the hairs stand up for a closer easier shave.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I replace the cleaning fluid maybe once every 4-6 months. I replace the head after 2 years. It's pretty good if you just need to clean up your shave. I use it daily. If I skip a day or two, I need to wet shave, just to get really close.

how easy is it to shave w/ compared to shaving cream and regular/non electric razor?

Tons easier. The main reason I use it. Takes me about half the time if I shave daily. If it's a bit long, it will take a while to shave.

Looks like mouth wash. I recommend trying it with mouth wash first.

Don't use the lectric shave stuff.  Your face will dry up something awful.  If you do get an electric, use it for a month or so before you give up.  Your face has to adjust.  Not sure why.

There are two bits of good advice in this thread.  1) Shave in the shower.  2) Use a single pack of blades per year.  In addition to that I'd like to add something about not using shaving cream.  But I'm banned.

I have a shower mirror, it makes all the difference in the world when you shave in the shower.  Wonder experience and wonderful results.

If the objective of shaving is not having a beard, I can testify that not having a mirror works just as well as having a mirror.  So, no, I will not be adding this suggestion to the ultimate shaving formula.  1) shower. 2) 1 pack of blades per year or so. 3) no shaving cream.  That's it.

Another good tip.

I've had the same can for a year and a half.  I shave probably 3 times a week.

I though Kansas barbers were no longer allowed to provide shaves per the health department.

I've had a $100 Braun for about 5 years, replaced the blades about a year ago.  It's works great during the week when I'm short on time, but it's not a close as a real shave.

this sounds good. don't care about getting a "close" shave. don't like spending time shaving. i have a beard/mustache trimmer that i keep at work and use it every day or so. just hate shaving. i could keep an electric razor there instead. it'd get me a little "closer" which would be perfect.

Not electric but it beats any disposable razor out there. Cheap too.

I need one.

I spent 150 on a Norelco about 6 years ago and it still works great.  It will keep your face smooth you just gotta have some patience and take a little more time in the morning.

why does it take patience? i've never used anything like this before. is it harder or easier than just shaving w/ shaving cream and a non electric type razor? seems like it would be easier.

It's easier imo, but if you want a real close shave you'll have to go back over spots multiple times.
aren't you glad it wasn't you? - g.h.

I have to buy a new razor in the near future. I'm weighing the options myself but could use ALL of your help.

The options are as follows:

A- Buy a new straight razor (which kind?)
B- Buy an electric razor (which kind?)
C- Buy more cartridges for the Gillette Mach razor I already own (For some reason this is more expensive than buying a new razor entirely)

Now, I own an electric razor that I used to use when I first started shaving, but I found it works better on other places  :sdeek:. I shave about every other day. What should I do, you guys?

I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

electric razers are dogshit if you have thick facial hair.  given you only shave every other day you could probably use one.

If you want your face to feel smooth when done shaving, don't get an elect.  If you want to feel a bunch of small prickles that will 5'oclock shadow up that day, then def get an elect razor.
