Got the Ryobi 40v and its way better than the crappy Black and Decker I had for 10 years. Only problem is I suck at using it so far. I either ain't cutting enough or I'm scalping the crap outta the grass. Just user error though. Bought the edger attachment as well which has been working well. 40v has plenty of power

I had no idea they made a weed eater for the 40v. My lady friend has the 40v Ryobi mower that I mow with there but the weed eater she has just uses a standard drill battery and is pretty pud. Definitely going to look into it.

I also just purchased the 40v Ryobi. Much, much better than my little 20v Craftsman. Also I have a 40v Ryobi Chainsaw and Leaf Blower. I honestly love everything Ryobi I have bought.

I'll hold out for a few more years on the electric mower, I think my gas one has a few more years left in her.  I do love the electric weed eater I bought though, they are way better than the gas ones.

i have a Stihl string trimmer and i really do not like the string-feeding mechanism (?) which is like the entire point of a string trimmer. i have already replaced it once with an upgrade, and it still sucks crap. my yard is very small but there are a lot of edges/sidewalks/landscaping etc so it's really more important than the lawn mower. you guys really saying an electric one is the way to go?

Yes absolutely. My 40v Ryobi claims to have a 50+ min run time. Which works great for me since it only takes me about 15 minutes to trim my whole yard. Then I slap the battery on my blower and clear off the driveway/sidewalk.

When you say you don't like the 'string-feeding mechanism' are you saying it's hard to load, or you don't like the process of getting more string while trimming? The Ryobi isn't hard to load but it's different. At least from anything I've had in the past.

I watched a youtube vid on loading it and it really helped.
What's the best way to let string out when using? Just bang it on the ground?

The string gets caught in the thing all the time and it's a huge pita to take apart and let the string ends out of the little holes

Been easy for me so far. Just tap it on the ground for more string. Hasn't gotten stuck yet but I've only used it a few times. And like I said different to load than ones I've had in the past but watch a YouTube video and it's pretty simple.
