i’ve been doing the same thing with my weekends- I finally got all of the straggler leaves out of the beds.  my neighbors on each side kinda suck at this stuff so I just went onto their property and got the leaves I needed to get gone from there too.

last week I cut down all off the long grass plant things (4 of them). I guess they regrow every year but you need to trim them to little stubs.

tomorrow i’m getting my new EarthWay 2600A spreader delivered which i’ll use this weekend to put down the scotts max crabgrass preventer that’s on sale for $15 off right now at costco.  pretty hyped about this spreader tbh.

last october I planted 100 tulip bulbs and 50 hyacinth bulbs and i’m really excited to be celebrating the fruits of that labor right now as those bitches are popping up everywhere.

yet to be seen- the hydrangeas I planted last fall.  it’s not been seen since november.  fingers rough ridin' crossed.
That’s a lot of tulips.  Our first one bloomed today.

The ‘drangeas will come.  You might go and pull some mulch off if they’re covered at all.  Might be some green popping up.  Ours are starting to wake up a bit, though one is still sleeping.  Some water might also help them.

I used to love getting out and doing the yard work, but now I consider paying someone almost every year and never do it. I have a pretty big yard and the prior owners didn't do crap so it took like 5 years to get it back in to shape. I still deal with some stuff that was left over from them. God Damn Yard Onions!!!!! Its just a lot of work and i'd much rather be doing other crap when I have free time off from running kids around. Still planning on getting a robot mower when my rider dies. That will maybe help a bit.

have a newly seeded yard...just picked up one of these babies. I'm too lazy to move the sprinkler many times a day so I'm hoping this will help.

what you want is an in-ground sprinkler system

Move the hose daily to avoid the yellow trail.

coming this summer/fall.

also first thing I read in the box was "not recommended for newly seeded lawns"

It's got stuck twice already...mainly due to the slope of the lawn and the placement of the hose. I may need to rework that.

DILEMMA: I need to overseed my lawn right now. It has lots of bare patches and is basically a joke. But if I seed now I can't put down crabgrass preventer for like 6 weeks. What do I do??

wait until october and seed it then otherwise you will be wasting your time and money which I assume you have tons of but still might as well wait anyway

Guys, i'm really struggling with a robot mower decision. Seems awesome if it all works and the one i'm thinking of getting is supposedly one of the best, but I just can't pull the trigger. I keep reading about setup, not hitting the edges, poor connection, etc. 4-5k is a lot when I could just make my kids mow now that they are old enough.

Lawn care for me now is a lot like coaching youth sports. I'm usually excited and overzealous about it but by the end of the season I'm ready to not be doing it.

Finally switched to using the tractor now that the grass/weeds are established. Was working pretty well until i burned the gears out the other day :blindfold:  I came out to one of the arms on the ground. Put it back in and now it makes a clicking noise when I assume it should be moving slightly.

Sprinklers are scheduled for installation in the next month.

Small riding mower if the lot is big enough. Barely had to teach the oldest anything about driving. Win win.

sprinklers just got in last week   Neighbor has been waiting for weeks too. There are like 10 landscape companies in the MHK area but i feel like there could be a few more.

With a lush lawn next spring, i'm gonna need a riding mower. What does gE recommend? When is the best time to buy?
Note: my handyman ability is pretty lacking so would prefer to go new.

I bought a John Deere rider from home depot prob almost 15 years ago. It was just the basic version. I've never done anything with it besides sharpen the blades. I'm certain it needs an oil change or something but I have no idea. I have replaced the battery once I guess. It just starts up every year so I keep using it.

if you get a zero turn, plan on feeling like an idiot driving it for a little while. If you get a lawn tractor make sure you unplug the part that makes it where you can't mow while in reverse.

It's been about 15 years since I drove a zero turn, so would expect it to be pretty rough.
I was leaning towards going the boring route and just getting a tractor from a box store but still on the fence

You guys are obviously experts in grass growing so I have question. My yard is in pretty good shape, but def has some spots. I overseeded the crap out of it right after I aerated this fall. Turns out, it stopped raining and was hot as crap for an entire month the days after I put the seed down. I ran the sprinklers and tried to keep up, but it was to no avail and I gave up. What's the spring play here since none of my fall seed came up? Will it come up? Do I wait for it to come up before putting pre emergent down?

I’ve learned my affinity to lawn care fluctuates with where I live and how nice my neighbor’s lawns are. I used to love taking care of, and even rehabilitating my lawn at my old house. That neighborhood was spotty as far as lawns were concerned, all buffalo grass and Bermuda. There were a couple three of us who took pride in our lawns and it was almost a hobby for me.

Where I live now is in a stuffy HOA and everyone has basically perfect fescue lawns. My lawn at this house is not at all a hobby, though I do enjoy getting out and mowing it every couple of weeks. I pretty much outsource everything else tho and just have professionals come take care of it on a schedule. Also have a crew come and mow/edge every other week.

Was kind of frustrated at the fertilizer/seed company for not removing some thatch near my driveway before over seeding last year. The over seeding was great overall but that small patch is still bare which is a bummer.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
