Maybe Sams should go play defense. Dimel hates him.

Worked for Tuggle.  :dunno:

I’ve started to kind of hate people, and it’s not because I have anything against them. It’s just, I enjoy it. It’s recreation.

Guise:

With Snyder's mind games, odds are that almost all starters will be 3rd string either in spring or pre-season camp at some point.  Bill loves to tell these kids they have to "earn" their spot back.

Depth chart means nothing to the schemedoctor.  Especially if there isn't a game for a week or two.

Maybe Ertz is just that full of studballs.

Yep. Considering everything I've heard, the coaches seem to think he's the real deal.

Based upon what I've heard, the depth chart should be

1. Sams
2. Ertz
3. Waters

The coaches really love Jake and dislike Daniel, though. At least Dimel does, and he's basically running things now.

I'm not in love with Waters, but if he is truly our 3rd best QB, then that position is probably better than it has ever been here.

It is. The problem is that Waters is starting, so it just doesn't matter.

Are you really suggesting that as a D1 football program, we've been starting our 3rd best QB just because a coach doesn't like Sams. Yeah not sure why but I'm not too sure I believe that.

Most on here love the idea of Sams because he has more potential to be a true dual threat - which has served us well in the past.  These same people also know that Waters is pretty good.  The problem is that these folks won't admit the latter because they are too devoted to the former.

It is what it is.  He's starting.  hopefully Sams is also starting at another position.

Often times it seems what most people miss when hoping for DSams to be the starter is the fact that although he is a fantastic athlete/player, he's not the BEST athlete/player on our team.... Lockett holds that distinction.

With that said, Waters best utilizes and maximizes Lockett's skill set, thus has locked himself in as the starter who gives us the best chance for success.  I'm fully of the belief that if it weren't for #16, DSams would be the starter.

DSams will see the field A LOT this fall and my understanding is that we can anticipate him filling a very similar role to that of Boykin at TCU when it's all said and done.

3rd best for LHC Bill Snyder's system, anyway. He was 2nd best last year. Ertz was redshirting.

This is definitely how I see it, but I haven't watched much of how they have cleverly used Boykin.  Is it just the wildcat formation sometimes? Or do they do end arounds and slotback formation with him?

I think I've made my peace with the fact our fanbase doesn't deserve Sams. But I will never understand why people think Lockett makes Waters significantly better, but Lockett doesn't make Sams better.

I think what he was saying is that Waters makes Lockett that much "better".....or rather "more effective".

Lockett can't keep a hold of Sams balls, no mater how hard he squeezes.  See BWW Bowl for proof.

you're a good person. thank you for the info.

is he playing straight LB or is he still at the tuggle position (3rd down DE/LB)?

i hope he starts at LB with either derricott or riddle.

It doesn't take an NFL scout's eyes to see that Waters can make throws that DSams can't, just as it doesn't take an NFL scout's eyes to see that DSams can make plays with his legs that Waters can't.

I would not have a hard time believing that Waters is our third best quarterback.
