I just binged true detective s1 this weekend and i feel like rust cole
Relish the moment. I haven't found a show that gave me that same rush.
straight up just the talk of this is making me want to watch it for a 3rd time.
I think it was third time for me and zero regrets, but you do legit start to feel beaten down and I’ve aged enough that really could look like a poor man’s rust after a bad couple nights sleep.
As far as Marty, I love some of the looks he gives and obviously he plays a great straight man. But I think while most people wish they were Rust, they know they are more of a morally compromised weasel. When your career is on the line, most would take an easy way out with “chain of command” like Sheriff Geraci.
But I also like the idea that Rust and Marty are both morally compromised. Marty starts off with the trappings of a normal family life but over time they both are destroyed by their work and by themselves. The only thing that gives them hope is fighting their enemy—evil. They fight the evil outside of themselves to try and fight the evil within. Each in their own way.
