Finished S2 of the wire. Liked it, but liked the first season quite a bit more.
Just catching up on this thread but is this your first time watching the wire? Because if so season 3 and 4 are some of the best TV programs out there. I've rewatched the wire 3 or 4 times and always enjoy it.
Fun fact about season 2...When I first watched it I started working in the office of an intermodal rail yard which was pretty similar to the ports of baltimore in season 2. Anyways they gave me basic training on how the boxes were moved and I was like "Yeah, I know how this works, I've seen the wire"
You would be amazed at how many containers get lost on any given day..Say a train arrives with 150 boxes on it...there would always be at least 1 "sleeper" (elite train transportation slang reference) box on the train that was not on the official manifest. Usually because it was not input correctly into the computer but we would also randomly "lose" boxes in the yard where we stacked the containers until the truckers picked them up and only notice it when someone went looking for it but it was not where it was then they had to drive around the whole facility looking for this one box. There was alot of manual updates to correct where the computer system thought XYZ123 box was.
