As you go there are some really funny ways they handle some of the obvious problems with having 33 year old 13 year olds interacting with 13 year old actors.
Also some serious moments which are not played for laughs and are genuinely affecting.
I felt like Ramy worked itself into corners and tried to go over the top with scenarios meant to provoke emotions and failed, I think Pen15 is navigating that better as you get to know and care about the characters.
It is also keeping itself tethered to reality a bit more than Fleabag (which I love) which is an interesting choice as 13 year olds are some of the most unreliable narrators out there and that would have been really fun to explore.
Overall it is gripping me more and more.
