Is there a thing of having too many good players? I mean, sharing PT is going to be rough.

I was thinking the same thing, it's going to be interesting to see how oscar manages all the superstar egos on this team that come with the sheer volume of talent. Good problem to have I suppose.

Yeah, Gip is for sure starting, the big question is will it be at the 4 or the 5.

Gip and Foster are definitive starters IMO. After those 2 there are tons of possibilities. I'd say Edwards could probably be penciled in. Then Jevon or Nigel. Then whoever wins the final spot as a big. (I'm assuming a move away form the dual swing line-up, though not completely, and more of 2 bigs)

Then again, its hard to say Westicles or Harris (if he's immediate impact 4 star) not starting. It seems like we have a decent amount of talent to work with.

The combination of lineups we can have on the floor is pretty endless since the only players that can only play one position are Jevon at PG and DJamer at C.

Biggest lineup: Edwards, Westicles, Harris, Hurt, Bolden

Smallest lineup: Jevon, Nigel, Foster, Nino, Gip

PG
1A. Jevon Thomas
1B. Nigel Johnson
2. Marcus Foster

SG
1. Marcus Foster
2. Hopper
3. Nigel Johnson
4. Tre Harris

SF
1A. Hopper
1B. Wes Westicles
3. Trey Harris
4. Malek Harris

PF
1. Thomas Gipson
2. Nino Williams
3. Malek Harris
4. DJamer
5. Jack Karp aka TBD

C
1A. Big Meat
1B.. Brandon Bolden
2. DJamer
3. Thomas Gipson

Going to be a dog fight for the starting PG position, Nigel can play some combo at the 2 because he can really shoot the ball, I expect him to show cases that next year. Jevon is the more natural PG.

The 2 and 3 is going to be a rotation of Marcus, Edwards and Wes splitting almost of of the minutes. This is the strength of our team but we don't have great depth.

The four is locked up by Gip, it is his team and frankly the next 2 best post players are going to be Hurt and Bolden. There is a good chance Malek is our best defender against stretch 4s and earns minutes that way. We are so deep at the 4 and 5.

Would love to see Jacks scholarship be given to someone that can really score the ball.

On paper oscar and his staff have really put together a nice roster.

the depth is fun to look at. my word.

lol are we looking at the same depth chart? weve got a C (I still stand by the point that we won't play any of these guys more than 10 min a game and Gip will play 5 for most of the time) position with 0 minutes played and a PG position with 2 guys at the top who averaged a combined 29 mpg and 3 points. its just full of young unproven guys, theres nothing to look at.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

hey you know what i see Tonya? like, 8 guys with experience that we know are pretty good and like, 3-4 more guys that we have reason to be optimistic about. so like, it's better than usual, ya know.

Bolden had been with the team for a year, Hurt is more of a wildcard but has already has had success at the D1 level against high major programs. Gip is also going to have to play with someone.

It seems pretty rational to compare a frontcourt of Gip, Hurt, Bolden, and DJamer to Lu, DK, Jamar as a freshman, and Ron Ron.

So Will was Michael Beasley, Shane was bill walker and Jack Krap starts as Darren Kent this upcoming season.  Got it!

I say you start Nigel, Foster, Edwards, Gip, HUrt/DJamer for the slow game, lull the other team to sleep and then bring in Jevon, Bolden, Westicles, Nino, Harris and run them out of the gym.   :excited:

We a diversity of skills and type of players, this is important when building a roster. One of Scott Drews problem is he a has a roster of the exact same type of players. I do think he getting better at it.

I don't think it's far fetched to expect Foster to look similar to Nik Stauskas this year. If you could only look at Foster's numbers from the second half of the season it'd be even closer to Stauskas' numbers:

really has nothing to do with who left. that was the schedule for that season and we went to the NIT. I think we go to the NIT after making the tourney as a 9 seed.

im sure well be MUCH better on the road this season with a new PG and half the team with no experience in a big 12 game.

Losing in the 1st round of the tourny again next year is really going to piss me off.
