Ejim is pretty crappy as B12POYs go.  Wiggins should have gotten it IMO.

wiggins didn't do crap on the road.... except for scoring a bunch of useless pts when KU was getting spanked at WV.   Im not saying Ejim was a great Big 12 POY.... but I think he deserved it more than Wiggy.

That's a very weird qualifier and also some very strong butthurt to call those meaningless points. That was nearly the greatest comeback in college basketball history, Wiggins was ridiculous the second half of that game

I would of really enjoyed making the debate that Foster is the PoY if he could have McGruder'd Baylor on Saturday and we finished 3rd - the All B12 teams clearly prove he is the MVP of this league.

and we would have enjoyed laughing at you, using that logic what does that make Jonathan Holmes, the Wooden winner?

In a world where Marcus Smart doesn't get suspended, does he win POTY?

I don't think so. They started losing before the suspension and he had issues before like the flopping and his behavior during the WVU game. He certainly wouldn't have won the media award and enough coaches (Self, Weber, Hoiberg) hinted at issues they had with Smart before the suspension as well.

This was a weird year for POY. The league as a whole was very good with a lot of really good players, but nobody really stood out as head and shoulders above the rest. Wiggins was hurt by his hype. I think he probably would have won it if the expectations hadn't been so high. When he struggled with some inconsistency early on he lost some potential votes right there. I think Embiid coming on the way he did during B12 play also took away from Wiggins because it made some look at it as a sort of 2 headed monster leading KU.

I think the voting still might have swung in Wiggins favor if the timing of each's "big game" where reversed. Ejim's came mid-conference which meant it had a lot of time to sit in voters minds and improve his stock in their eyes. With Wiggins' coming so late most of the voters had probably already made up their minds and barely noticed it in relation to the POY.

Wiggins on the road vs the 6 teams that will be in the NCAA tourney =  24-78 FGs. That is 30.7% (33.9 eFG)  Had 21 TOs and made 24 FGs. 13.0 pt ave

I realize those 6 games are only 1/3 of the conf games, but road games vs tourney teams are important games and he did not perform well at all.

For comparison, Ejim in his 6 games on the road vs Big 12 tourney teams = 19.0 pts, 10.3 reb, 42-88 FGs. That's 47.7% (52.8 eFG)

I am not one who is gonna give the POY to the best player on the best team.  I don't think it was a slam dunk that Ejim should have won, but IMO yes he should have won it and glad the coaches and AP agreed with me

_Fan, can you do that 100's thingy but then adjust for wiggins playing for KU and having a bunch of talented guys around him that don't let him score?

Wiggins took a higher % of his team's FGAs and FTAs than Ejim.

The Devonte Graham POY thing is interesting because he absolutely won it simply because Keenan Evans had a turf toe flare up for 4 games.

I can't remember the last time that award was given by default.

Also that third team is wack, they should mandate that there's either three or four guards on each team. They should have a ballot with blanks that says
G
G
G
G/F
F

I'm kind of surprised Lecomte made 2nd team.  I would have been fine with either Brodz/Konate on 2nd, with Lecomte on 3rd.

If we  had 3 guards on 3rd team, I would add Zhaire Smith and bounce Lual-Acuil

Why? What's wrong just giving it to the best 15 players?

Yeah, I've got no problem with that. They aren't making line ups, they are awarding the best 15 guys.

From the Wichita Eagle:
"Wade, a junior Kansas State forward, earned All-Big 12 first-team honors Sunday coming off a breakthrough regular season in which he averaged 16.7 points and 6.4 rebounds. He was the Wildcats’ most consistent player this year and has reached double figues in 19 straight games.

He is K-State’s first basketball player to make the all-conference first team since Rodney McGruder in 2013. Michael Beasley and Jacob Pullen are the only other former K-State players that have made the All-Big 12 first team."

That's shocking that Wade makes only the 4th Cat Player named to B12 1st teams.  Love Claws.  He has worked hard to get to this point of development.  Kind of like Iwandu.  Those two dunks yesterday from Wade were awesome.
