No one should be yelling at athletes like they are animals in cages

Exactly. It's pathetic.

Heaven forbid, if a 19 year old emotional, competitive kid reacts badly.

Yes. And we should focus on how far the kids "draft stock" is going to fall because of this, not the complete insanity of a group of 50-some year old adults screaming and taunting in a 19 year olds face like crazed animals.

Just saw this...

Oklahoma State has set a news conference for 5 pm CT today, spokesman told ESPN. Marcus Smart, Travis Ford, AD Mike Holder will all speak.

QUIT PUSHING THIS STORY ESPN.
Last night Sportscenter did 19 minutes of a 44 minute broadcast on Marcus Smart including running the same Andy Katz segment twice.

and? It was easily the most talked about thing among sports fans. :dunno:

I mean, how often do they discuss Oklahoma State bball in Europe and Indonesia? Prolly like every day.

Did I say anything about not covering the story? The coverage exceeded the actual news they actually had as evidenced by them rerunning an interview with a guy who was 2200 miles away with no sources at the site. The night before the easily most talked about thing in sports was the opening ceremonies did they devote half of the broadcast to that?

Maybe one of the OTHER trashy tech fans said something racial in addition to Orr's bad taunting....I mean Smart was all flopped on the ground trying to stand up...he has no idea who said what.

Honestly, I think the woman clapping and yelling in his face taunting him is the worst of the three from that gif. I hope she's embarrassed. I wouldn't be embarrassed if I were Marcus. He just made a mistake after an emotional loss to extend a frustrating losing streak. They had the nerve to kick him when he's down. eff them.

Early 30s. What's the cutoff? Because frankly I'm nowhere near prepared for this. Dispositionally, I mean. I'm a pretty good shover, speaking strictly from a physical and technical point of view.

I don't think I've ever been the shover in a non-acceptable shoving situation.  Feels like a couple un-smart people attempted to shove me before.  Didn't hurt though.

But remember guys, it's the made up "shoot the round ball in the basket game" so everyone is allowed to act like insane people. Smart shouldn't have fallen down next to them, I mean what else could they be expected to do in that situation.

10 is the cutoff, i'm afraid.

Wait, did they censor the word "Africa"?

To me, it looks like Smart interrupts him with his shove right before he says "Africa". If he planned to say that, all he got out was "go back to A...."

If you don't want to shove people you shouldn't. You should probably get shoved sometime though, just to see what it feels like.

you didn't say that...but you did say it was a low point for sports media and made you sad, which is a little over the top, imo.

I agree mostly with this.

Well, distance is irrelevant (re: 2200 miles). And a race controversy in college basketball (despite the decline in its national relevance) will almost always trump anything short of the miracle on ice at the Winter Olympics.
