When I find myself in this situation, I now ask myself, does the new playoff system help/hurt our Cats chances of a Natty?

I think it helps our chances of playing in one, but hurts our chances of winning one.

This applies to everyone. Of course it's easier to win a one-game playoff - but that isn't unique to Kansas State. (And of course it's easier to everyone to get in.)
if anything, having only 10 days or whatever between the semis and finals should help Snyder

Agreed, Mich.

I think a better question is, would a college football playoff semi final/Final Four win be a bigger win than a college basketball Natty?

I think so.. I really do

Making the playoff, even if you lose 1st round, is bigger than a hoops natty by a large margin.

Well a conference title in football is already at worst equal to a basketball natty, so I think that's a pretty safe bet.

Welcome to the entire 30 years of my world, friends. I warmed you up a seat.
that loss to Pitt in 07 had and prolly continues to just be crushing.  To lose to your rival with so much at stake reminds me of the cats loss to KU in elite 8 in '88 a little.

Yeah that Pitt team was 4-7 going into that game.

That Pitt game. Man, that was a far bigger opportunity squelched. Misery loves company, I suppose.

I have no doubt we would have won.  2012? Not so much.

98 was much harder because we were so close, just one quarter away, and lost in such a horrific fashion, and then went to the alamo.  last year was tough but we beat texas a couple weeks later, won the conference, and got to go to the fiesta bowl.  we were so very close both times though, and would've had favorable matchups in both games.

I sometimes play the what if game with the 03 team too and ell's injury, and then 02 with the 2 losses by 7 points.  nothing wrong with playing some what if with past seasons.

It wasn't a once in a lifetime chance. We'll have seasons like this again.

We would of destroyed ND - I was gonna pay for my tickets for the game by taking whatever ridiculous line it would of opened up at.

We also would of beat the crap out of UTenn in 98, the 02 Miami team prolly beats us down even tho they lost to OSU.

IIRC, he had picked up the first down prior to the fumble

Yep.
It's a nice universe where Broward County election officials rethought the circular ballot and the FBI followed up on tips about Saudis taking flight lessons with no interest in landing.

I don't like to live in the past. It can be depressing. That being said, I avoid ESPN Classic all time.
