Did you see that foul disparity? I wonder how much we paid those refs.  I mean, that amount of food stamps is sure to raise some eyebrows in a state like Texas.

KU had 16 fouls Tech had 21.  I am not surprised KU had fewer fouls but 21-16 is not a drastic difference.   The 2 jump ball calls were pretty bad calls.   Even the announcers made a comment about that a foul should have been called.  But, what do you expect, the Big 12 refs in general are just not very good.

It could have something to do with KU having really great athletes that can get to the rim and the other team has to foul them to prevent the player from scoring.

KU-Tech is another great example of the value in using tempo free stats.

With a score of 64-63, most people would think that this was a defensive battle, however the opposite was true because the game only had 54 possessions. Both teams shot the ball really well (both over 50% eFG%) and both teams really hit the offensive glass (both 46% OR%). As a result KU won the efficiency battle 1.19 to 1.17 points per possession. Scoring at that rate is extremely rare against a Bill Self coached team, they give up 1.15 or more ppp 2-3 times per season at the most.
