I will add that if we move Sams, it should be a permanent move, as it would be the best for everyone. Admit trying Sams at qb was a mistake, cut our losses, and move on.

I don't agree at all. I think he could be a really good WR (since he already has been).

not at this level.

Interesting if true

It's amazing what a win against a michigan team with a god awful defense can do for your confidence.

An interesting research project would be to find out how well new coaches do against Snyder.  I suppose you would have to throw out KU and possibly Baylor to control for poop situations.

I think it comes down to winning all the winnable road games (ISU, WVU, TCU) then beating two of UT, OSU, @ Baylor, @ OU.  Winning 3 of those games wins the conference.

I don't think it's unreasonable for people to expect Waters to have great games against average teams next year.

3 Big 12 Puds (KU, ISU, WVU)
2 non-con puds
2 Big 12 semi-puds (Tech, TCU)

I think we have to assume 7-0 or 6-1 out of this stretch

Auburn, OU, OSU, UT, Baylor = 3-2 even would be incredible.  I think we beat OSU, UT, and Auburn because eff it.

Best case is Briles leaving and then Petty/Seastrunk leaving or someone changing their offense like crazy.  I assume Baylor would just promote their OC as quickly as possible though.

That's a good picture of what to expect.

The most interesting to watch will be if Briles leaves and who UT replaces Mack with. You never know with a new coach at BU, Briles had them playing at at their peak, it will be interesting to see if a replacement can sustain it. Clearly UT has talent, the right guy getting that group to come together could make them really tough.

7-0/2-3 could be the most likely combo for 9 wins.

9-3 with that schedule should make us a top 15 team

quick research (from 95 forward).  in games against new coaches in their first year (meaning, not the first time Snyder played the new coach, but Snyder playing the new coach in the new coach's first year)........

19-2

 :Wha:

losses to the weasel, panini.

wins against:  Barnett, Schnellenberger(sp), Blake, Leach, Tubbs, Klings, Simmons, Mack, McCarney, Rhodes, Every KU coach (4 of them), Pinks, Solich, Callahan, Kevin Steele, Guy Morriss

Nice work.

I liked them showing Snyder's 98% winning when leading at halftime stat last night. I knew it was good, but that's really good. Probably typical of good coaches though.

Honestly?

Another Titletown (at least in football, I'll address the basketball side elsewhere).

Everyone knew this would be a rebuilding year, and everyone thought that 8-5 with a bowl win would be reasonable. But I also think that going through this season everyone thought we should have gotten at least a win or two more... meaning 9-4 or even 10-3.

We should be able to improve to at the very least 9-4 or 10-3 next year. And if you take out the mistakes that led us to cough up those 9-4, 10-3 records? Well then you are looking at a possible 11-2 or better record.
(12-1 or 13-0 if you can't use maths.) Which is what we had last year early on when we were challenging for a national title.

Guys, I want to challenge for a national title again. It felt good last year.

Maybe I am not being realistic, but I feel like I am.

:billdance:

I think this could happen. How much are we going to be missing Bill when that day comes. I can't fathom it.

Just as I suspected.

I will pencil us in for wins against UT, and Baylor if Briles leaves.

The two Oklahomas sweep us, we lose a dog fight to Auburn in front of a USC-game-esque home crowd, and  finish third in the Big 12.

OSU wins it, and appears in the first four team playoff...only to lose horribly to Oregon in the first round.

Its clear that the direction this staff wants to go is Waters. The key for next year is if Snyder/Dimel/Miller thinks they have a capable back-up in the mix for him to see what we can do with Sams. I understand the anger here for if Sams is moved because he did a lot of really good things at QB this year, but if the staff wants to go with Waters, he must be on the field.

No, Sams should be backup QB. He's below average at any other position.

I don't agree at all. I think he could be a really good WR (since he already has been).

He was recruited by Miami as a WR and OU as a safety.

I'm assuming OSU is bringing a ton back BUT road games are still road games.  I don't care who you are teams with new coaches are rarely world beaters unless UT brings in a Cam Newton which I don't believe is even out there.

We don't lose more than 2 big 12 games next year unless someone gets hurt.

I think we'll see new wrinkles out of the run pass options.

just about every year of Snyder II we've seen pretty good new wrinkles each year.

CK QB power

This year it was attacking the seams with the H backs.

They'll have something new next year.

I don't know...OSU wasn't THAT much better than we were this year, and we get them in Manhattan.  Texas, too.

@OU and @Baylor in their new stadium are going to be dog fights.

My best guess is that the only games we won't be favored to win are those two and Auburn at home.

Snyder gives the keys to a senior QB and let's him go nuts.  He's going to open this thing up for Waters and Lockett next year.

yeah.  i don't think they understand that we essentially played WV or ISU last night.

Our QB was 21-25, 3 TD 0 Int at one point last night and 2 of those were drops by Thompson in 1st qtr.  Don't care who the QB is or who the opponent is, those stats are flat out awesome.

Last night was Jake's best game by far, but he started to play well in the 2nd half of the WV game.
*2nd half of WV game, Iowa st, and T Tech = Waters was 23-31 and had 0 TOs.
*His stat line wasn't good vs TCU but he did engineer the game winning FG drive.
*Then these last 3 games of the year = 48-77, 779 yds and 8 passing TDs

Big issue early on was the turnovers.  Jake only 4 int in his last 190 pass attempts.
