Can an article interesting and filled with nonsense all at the same time? First things first, stuff like this always happens to Toronto, there is absolutely a reason for that. I'm confused about how the author said several times that they did their homework but then he posts several stories about issues with Defoe's mother. And about that, why are they using this lady as a scapegoat for the actions of grown men? All these stories of her brokering back channel deals are complete crap. Like I said before she isn't making these clubs throw money at her son.

Bottom line is that he doesn't want to be in Toronto and who the hell can blame him? He chased dollars but the fact is that Toronto is a second rate franchise, with a second rate front office, in a second rate MLS city, playing in a 3rd world stadium. He thought he could take the money and swallow hard, it didn't work and they were fools for thinking that it would. They gambled and lost, shameful of MLSE to blame his mother. For the record MLSE are complete and total eff ups with every sports franchise they touch. Throwing stupid money at everything without critical thinking is just as stupid as not spending money and tanking, maybe even more dumb.

True. I was asking somewhat seriously though. SKC attracted a significant portion of their fan base because it was the new, cool thing. Wondered if they had lost some of that group as they scuffle through the end of their season and the Royals go through the playoffs?

Nah, not really. I mean, a lot of attention has been diverted to the Royals for the time being, and we love that they're good (except super butthurt Sporting fans who think soccer is the only important sport). I've still gone to every game possible and will be attending the game tomorrow night as well. The stadium is still full. Was full during the Orioles game that conflicted and will be full tomorrow.
