While obviously being known for his prowess in the kitchen, Clams is also somewhat of a KC restaurant savant.

Clams, et. al., have you found any place in KC that serves Mexican "Street" style tacos?

Such as this...

This dude has an entire blog dedicated to the Taco....amazing work. http://mytacoblog.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Do we have such wonderful items in KC?

However, a have never been there.  Anyone confirm the quality?

Truman and 435, in the parking lot of the pick-n-pull salvage yard.  Delicious.

Across from the westport beach club place that is next to Beaumont.  I think it is called "cancun"

has excellent street tacos.  Wife and I have eaten there probably 30 times.  They let you take unlimited containers of 3 kinds of salsa.

Just had 'em a couple of weeks ago in Lawrence during the first round.   :lick:

Seems like I've had them somewhere in KC, but I'm forgetting where.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION THAT MAY DECIDE WHERE I GO TO GRAD SCHOOL
are there ANY good Mexican food places in KS at all? The places I went to in Lawrence kinda sucked.

the places in the link from mikey4 are all in Kansas City, Kansas.   they are all authentic mexican (meaning most white people won't like it).

side note:  People in Michigan are obsessed with eating the "most authentic" Mexican.  They have no idea what that means (neither do I, honestly), but it's pretty funny to hear them talk about it.  And then every Mexican restaurant, even if it's staffed entirely by white people and sells nothing but gross burritos with a ton of sour cream, claims to be "authentic".

There's actually this one horrible burrito place that has an add at a gas station that shows them getting burrito ingredients loaded onto "Mexican express" (which is like fed ex) in the square in front of the Mexican Capitol.  I'll take a pic next time I'm there.

If it tastes good it's authentically delicious.  If that happens to be "authentic mexican" or if it happens to be chipotle it's all the same imm(outh's)o.

I agree.  Just give me something tasty.  But it was pretty funny, when a work lunch was having a "most authentic" Mexican discussion, and I was like, "are there any of those fast food mexican places?"  And they're like, "um, you mean taco bell?", and I was all, "No, you know, a place where you can get a giant carne asada burrito from the drive thru", and they're like, "Carne asada?  WTF?"   and we all went back to eating Buffalo Wild Wings.

:dunno:

I love hearing people talk about being authentic around Joco.

Just switch your priorities, go to New Mexico State and have all the delicious green chiles and mexican food you want.  Not necessarily a great educational choice but a smart one if you like food :dunno:
