This is a neat talking point, and I won't disagree that Curtis should've gotten a shot or two in the 2nd half.
But, let's look at some facts.
While running the offense through Kelly in the 1st half we scrored 20 points, shot 35.7 %, missed both 3 pointers we attempted, and missed all 4 FT attempts. Meanwhile, in the 2nd half we scored 36, shot 41%, made 5 threes while shooting 38.5% from behind the arc, and got to the FT line 10 times, making 7.
So really, Kelly not taking a shot is a minor point.
And it ignores the fact that we let Butler shoot 57.9% in the 2nd half, 50% from 3 and sent them to the FT line 16 times, making 11. Compared to 37%, 44% from 3, and only 4 FT attempts in the first half.
All the while letting Butler outrebound us overall on the boards by 11 and on the offensive glass beating us 12 to 11.
In the grand scheme of things, Curtis Kelly not getting shot in the 2nd half would probably be about #10 on the "why we lost this game list" while playing terrible defense, getting killed on the boards, and sending Butler to the FT line 16 times in the 2nd half would probably be the top 3.
Again, we didn't adjust to this game becoming a grinder leading to a terrible defense and rebounding effort. This only served to magnify a bad first half instead of allowing this team to find a way to grind out a win.
