The 6-15 thing is the dumbest crap I ever heard. And cancelled out by some amazing long passes that few can make.

At this point in the season neither guy has earned the job, I think we can all agree on that...for the most part. The best chance for us to win this season is to play both guys and call plays that put them in the best position for them to succeed. The big problem that I see with the coaching staff is that they give Waters too much rope, and they are very quick to pull Sams. I don't want to see Waters in the game if we're constantly punting. Both guys should be expected to lead scoring drives. If they have two drives in a row that don't result in points then it's time to give the other guy a chance. Also, vice versa, when Sams scores, he shouldn't be taken out of the game the next drive. I haven't gone back to see how often this has happened, but it seems to be happening more than it should. We need to do a better job of playing the hot hand.

The decision was fine. The execution was just abysmal.

Yeah, I had no problem with the decision to throw there, but it was an awful throw. Thompson said he thought it was to Lockett, then saw it sailing and he knew he had to play defensive back at that point.

And the issue is the inaccuracy on this throw is becoming what he does far too often on these types of throws. Several of his other INTs are very similar; he's just way off on throws down the field when he's on the move.

It was as good as a punt but turned into a TD drive. I see your point about the similarities in terms of decision making and accuracy but it was such a vastly different situation I don't think you can accurately compare. Plus, if Waters is in there (and mind you, I'm not anti-Jake) he is probably sacked for a big loss and we go in up 10-0 instead of riding the momentum of a big, Manzielesque play.

Sams was only in the game because Waters had just finished leading us to 3 3 and out drives in a row. If Waters is in there, we most likely would have punted about 8 plays earlier and ISU would have the ball at midfield.

this.  which is why I don't care about the qb spot anymore.  when waters has the majority of snaps we had games we should have won and didn't - same with Sams.  IMO right now, they are both average, at best, qb's on an average, at best, team.

maybe through this year, spring ball, summer workouts and fall camp (and I suspect a few OOC games) we'll get one of them who becomes above average and finally quits rough ridin' up enough to make Bill make a final choice.

Do you just not see the difference in coming up just short against NDSU vs coming up just short against OSU and Baylor? Plus, it's not like Sams was coming into the NDSU game to waste drives on 3 and outs and fumble inside the 10 yard line.
