I'm skeptical it'll lead to big sales.  Talking about her for free on gE, and even paying $10/month to talk about her on premium gE is one thing, buying the album is another.

Possibly.  I haven't seen anyone advance an actual argument as to why she's great other than just stating she is.  Usually the support is simply that a bunch of conservative assholes don't like her and therefore she must be great.  I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I don't think she's great, but I think the people guiding her career are absolutely brilliant (or lucked into a brilliant plan). I think the video was pretty good but her performance at the VMA's was bad. I am mostly amused by the reactions to her antics and enjoy making fun of those people. I mean self-righteous judgemental crap like this getting linked to my facebook like a billion times is hilarious/fascinating to me:

Even if it does work, it's not a marketing strategy that she can successfully repeat.  People will get bored of her shtick.  Then she'll try harder to be edgy and no one will really care until she's the next Spears/Lohan/Bynes.  Then everyone will forget about her, because there will be another better her.  It's like Highlander, I think.

But I don't know if she is gross. I doubt the sledgehammer she made out with in that video had ever been used for anything before. It's prop in a video.  Nobody thinks Kevin Spacey is a psycho for cutting off Gwyneth Paltrow's head and putting it in a box.
