I really hope this isn't the end of the pregame skits. I don't want to get into the pussification of America right now, but it's not like he was forced to participate in the thing. Maybe we need to change it up a little, but to complete nix the whole thing seems excessive to me. Thoughts?

Are you of the thought that it is impossible to have a skit without some 5'9" 145 pound kid getting hit as hard as possible by someone running full speed in shoulder pads? And for you to even consider typing "pussification of America" as It relates to this is so absurd. The guy hit his head on the turf and had a three minute seizure in front of 53,000 people.

My thought is that you are a simple minded moron.

He knew what he was signing up for. The fact is that he knew he was going to get hit and fall to the ground. It was preconceived that there is chance for injury. So no, I am not a simple minded moron...hence why I didn't sign up to get hit at mid field.

The Willie tackles have to stop, ShellShock. We can't have KSU students getting Coach Kill'd in front of a packed house while 50,000+ screaming fans cheer while he convulses on the powercat. It's just some dumb skit and you really won't miss it.

Might as well stop playing football also...I mean, players have concussions/broken bones/knocked out all the time and people get tackled out there too right? Heck, tailgating in the parking lot seems dangerous as well because there are cars driving around in the same area that people are running around and having a good time right? Better yet, the drive to BSFS is dangerous because cars are unreliable. Soon enough, nobody will want to leave their home to do anything. See what i'm getting at here? There are risks with everything whether it be volunteering in a skit, to playing, to driving, to whatever.

It was/is a sad thing what happened to that kid don't get me wrong, but everyone taking it way out of proportion is a little crazy if you ask me.

you're goddamn right, shellshock.  those rough ridin' libtard tree huggers need to suck it up and be men, not girls.  how many times in the history of ksu football has the victim of a lynchmob-style willie tackle have been injured?  ONE!  That kid was probably half sissy, anyway.

I'm just glad I was there to see the last ever Willie Skit in person.  That ticket stub is gonna get encased in Lucite for all posterity.  Years from now I can show it to my grandkids.

Maybe from now on, Willie could chase down the opposing fan and just give him an open hand smack right on the mouth and the fan could just run off crying. That would be much safer and really better in every way than the traditional spear tackle.

instead of the hit we should drop hilariously large (but fake) anvils on the fake mascot (from Niles/Frasier??) or trick them into wearing acme rocket jetpacks and send them off to outer space, etc.

Not really anyone's place to say what is or is not worth "it" - other than the person being tackled. As stated above, he knew the risk while signing up, unless this was all against his will.  If you don't think it's worth it to you, then don't step on the field.  Who knows, getting tackled in front of 53,000 people on the powercat at BSFS may be this kids life long dream. Who the eff are you to deny him that?

maybe start having the opposing "fan" wear a bullet proof vest, and willie comes out and judges them in front of the 'cat family.   just make sure that willie knows to only shoot in the chest and avoid the face.

In the world we live in today, we wouldn't even be able to do that. It would be us making them cry, telling them that it's ok, setting up counseling for their hurt feelings, giving them a participation medal and telling them that there's tons of stuff you're good at and you can do anything.  :jerk:

Makes me sick...

That would be great. We could also have an ambulance come out to pick him up on a stretcher every time, even if he is okay. That way the fans don't know when something goes horribly wrong and we can just keep on judging #1Cats.

And if Willie misses and the bullet hits some kid in the stands, it's the kid's fault. That kid knew what he/she was getting into when he/she walked into BSFS.

Its not really a very cool tradition, anyway.  I'm not going to be sad if they stop doing it, honestly i'm surprised it took them this long with some of the hits I've seen over the year.  At least the football players are wearing helmets.

He could tackle one of those StiltsCats from the 1990s after he is done riding the Harley. Can you imagine the rotational acceleration that would be generated as he lifts up the StiltsCat and slams his brain against the turf.

I think this is a track (not in the UK sense) that we could run on.
