again, you can't justify that opinion unless you can measure and then net out the development of the players.  you can't do that.  #thread.

Being super elite and recognized as the absolute best program in the county by the absolute most respected member of the financial media two years out of three sounds like a big let down since year three was right there for the taking.  However, coming in second simply because Bill refused to play Sams, well that is what makes it hurt.

This just proves that the WVU game was an absolute fluke of nature that will never ever happen again.  KU's last big 12 win before that, not counting the spring game, was to the 2nd worst team for the money.

Also of note, if you take CU's cost per win(6.4 million) plus our cost per win(1.5 million) you get KU's cost per win(8 million).  :sdeek:

KU: just four spots worst than Auburn.

A little work and they could be NC'ing it too!

I really don't see the relevance of KU's best class ever having very few commits by mid-december.  Are you implying that this recruiting class could be one of KU's best? That may be true, but there's not a whole lot of evidence to suggest that this class is going to bring success to a program with practically no momentum.

Also, Kim Carnes is great in combo fanning, but just insufferable on the football board.

That study is flawed. Money should be allocated into two categories 1) wins and 2) flawless execution of brilliant recruiting strategy.  Ku would have 8, maybe 9 million allocated to category 2, making their dollars per win tops in the country.

CNS has been on his game for a solid month and more people should take note.

You know who hires a maybe? Kansas football hires a maybe. UConn football hires a maybe. A school that doesn't have the money to hire a "definitely" is a school that takes a chance on Jon Gruden. A school desperate to upgrade its football program, hoping to distract rich boosters and skilled recruits with something sizzling, hires the guy out of the Monday Night Football booth and hopes for the best.

Grats beems!

In two yrs, KU will be lucky to be able to even interview, let alone actually land, a "maybe" guy.  Pretty soon, KU will be the place where coaches who have to take the tough route to prove themselves go, or the coach that hates being mid-majory but everyone but him knows doesn't belong at the next level.

The KU job is potentially very attractive to coaches. Sadly for KU fans they don't have an AD who can make a good hire.

I think KU already hit that level with their last coaching search.  Weis wasn't a "maybe" guy he was a guy that had already shown he wasn't capable at the BCS level.  His name wasn't even getting mentioned with any other coaching searches.

Big diff in failing at Notre Dame and failing at KU.  That is like two bookends of failure holding together between them the whole of college football.

Yes but the results his last several years at Notre Dame were results almost no school would be satified with.  It wasn't like he was winning ten games and they wanted 11 or 12.  He was going sub 500 and losing to the service academies.  He went 3-9 in his third season at Notre Dame, it's almost unbelievable how bad of a coach you have to be to do that.

Weis went sub .500 once at Notre Dame.  Once.  In his first couple years, he took Notre Dame to two BCS bowls and won NCOY.  It wasn't like he was just a total sh*t show.
