Weird. My KU friends tell me one of the upsides KSU has is the campus. KU's is a mess, you don't know when you're on it or not.

Going after high profile recruits?
I know the seasons not over and I'm hoping we pull some Angles in the Outfield magic this Saturday! However, in HCCW press conference today he said he'd be going after some high profile recruits, mainly junco guys I believe. In positions that were in desperate need of. This has to be receiver right? Anybody have any idea of the guys he's going after? Maybe a thread like we had when Weis was hired of the recruits that have committed and/or we have offered?

If there’s a benefit in not playing a bowl game — aside from the money KU will save by not paying to travel to a minor bowl — it’s the gift of time. While half the country prepares for the final week of the regular season and its bowl game, Weis and his staff can devote their full attention to recruiting.

You have to understand, nearly 60% of the Enrollment at ku comes from 5 Kansas Counties, 4 of which are either the county where KU resides or about 25 minutes down I-70/K-10 going East or West.

Most of the 1000's of ku undergrads from those counties run home to mommy and daddy every weekend and they have a worldly perception that could almost fill a thimble.

So for that reason you can never have a discussion with them about ku because they think ku and Lawrence is the greatest place on the planet.

Yep, those weeks of extra practice usually hurt a program in the long run.

What is really good for a new coach trying to completely change a program is to lose big his first 3-4 yrs to free up all that recruiting time rather than wasting time preparing to play an exhibition game.  Then, in the 4th or 5th yr, once you have taken advantage every year of losing an embarrassing amt of games, you strike and actually try.  It's what all the big names do.

I like that Weis is looking past K-State toward the offseason.

“I gotta get through this game, and then the Sunday after Kansas State, I gotta get on a plane and go recruiting.”
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

I would be willing to bet a good sum (maybe double or nothing Tim) that Weis's "recruiting" trip is to Florida and in particular where his family lives.  He is going to go home for a few months, on ku's dime, and call it recruiting.  they are such rubes.
