think they have to buy Weis out. There is no evidence whatsoever that he will turn the program around.

Kansas is a rich school. There's no reason why they can't go to the money bin and pack the next train out of town full of $100 bills and Charlie Weis.

Not firing him says to your fans that you either (a) still believe in him, which is insane, or (b) are willing to accept failure because improvement would be expensive.

Neither is tenable, his goose surely must be cooked.

I decided to take a gander over east and surprisingly the KSU game is higher up on their board than their actual real rivals (Missouri). But the ammount of apathy is almost too much to bear reading. My favorite response has to be

"On a positive note, the stadium won't be empty after halftime...."

Just kinda sad tho.

Guys, are there any successful strategies in getting kids in and out of lawrence without them becoming hooked on drugs?  I ask because my two kids want to go to a game that is quiet enough for them to ask questions during the game about rules and what not and I thought this game in Lawrence would be ideally quiet.  That said, I can teach them about football in front of my embarrassingly nice TV without all the Oxy floating around them if it just isn't doable with out having to follow up with a family trip to rehab.

Thoughts?

Doesn't really matter, they are going to have to get used to the noise in the end anyways since statistically speaking the majority of high schoolers in Kansas choose Kansas State. Odds are they will end up in Manhattan. Might as well get them used to having fans around them.

1863, my main concern was the drug avoidance strategies.  :dubious:

first off, thanks for being a great dad CNS.  next, i believe that you will be able to find a fairly isolated location in the stadium, perhaps even a "section" all to you and your family.  that should make it a bit easier to educate your children and and keep the "drug culture" at least out of sight for a while.  the drive into town should be fine, and hopefully since KU plays games very early in the morning, all the drunk drivers will be "sleeping one off".  the walk from your car to the stadium is probably the biggest obstacle.  the residences and campus surrounding the stadium are all known "drug dens" where illegal activity and HIV are rampant.  i believe an involved father such as yourself can use this as a teaching tool though, and warn your kids early about the dangers of "dope weed" and "angel crack".  be safe, keep a vigilant eye, and don't accept any liquid drinks from any strangers (they have been known to spike all sorts of innocent beverages with some sort of "raping" drug).

best of luck CNS, and hug your kids just a little closer after the trip is done  :)

Sorry CNS... I agree with seven. Use it as a kind of real life D.A.R.E. field trip for the kids. Just keep the kids close by and within quick grabbing distance for safety. Could be high risk/ high reward.

Hey CNS, your friend ben ji here.

Just want to let you know your fears are not unfounded, 2 guyz from my HS got hooked on Oxy while at KU. One went to rehab and is doing better and the other is in DC doing god knows what.

Oh, um, CNS...quick little observo here...what is your plan when the dozens on hand yell "rip his..." Well this is a family blog so I won't continue, but you know what they do when they kick off. Statistically they will have to kick off the ball a minimum of 1 time. Do you have a plan for this?

Was watching the weather channel as they were covering that super typhoon.  They were interviewing this dude who had his house blown away and lost everything.  Reporter asked him what he wanted to say to the rest of the world.  "We lost our home, our pets.  My place of employment was completely destroyed.  And now as you reach for your wallets please consider giving instead to the Kansas University Athletic Department.  They need it more than we do."

It's too hard to recruit to lawerence. No good football player in their right mind would want to play there.

I'm sure it's been brought up before but isn't our game at KU an incredible recruiting tool?   BSFS East will be full of purple, and the few KU fans who show up will be gone at halftime.
