Video boards get burned out pixels all the time. Those North video boards are nearing EOL.

I do agree on the other stuff on the upper level, tho and beer sales.

Their whole stadium was 40 years past EOL

A final one from the phog

Quote
Hahaha we are now getting pats on the head from friggin K-State fans. At least when NU fans used to do this they were winning national championships.

The losing streak to ksu is the most embarrassing thing in the history of our university. It is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable on every level.

Vance was a little salty after the game.

https://x.com/PhoggyThoughts/status/1850394112232448016

That's more than a little salty! I know many in our AD would have issues if our head coach started cursing in a press conference and at reporters. Not a good look Lance. Makes me wonder what he yells at the refs during the game.

We have to get this sadsack program back on its feet and act as our surrogate contender because of the unfairness of how this year's conference schedule. Of the four legit contenders -- us, buffs, byu and clones -- we're the only team that plays the othercontenders and we play them all on the road. We need KU to step up and play to their potential because the poor bastids have to play all four contenders. Do us a solid raytown hawks. we're pulling four you. If the times work out, maybe we should go fill Arrowhead.

Surely KUFBall will have their own stadium in Kansas next year.

 :frown:

Why did Kstate only finish 75% of their stadium?

Because that East side is a wasteland.

ZERO concessions in the upper deck.

Video board in the NE corner with burnt out pixels.

Death trap bleacher. Saw a tater almost fall to his death only to be saved by rolling several rows into some seated fans.

And the "beer garden" is a joke. What kind of football stadium doesn't serve booze throughout the stadium. They Make people say the pledge of allegiance before the game but they don't serve beer? Pretty unAmerican if you ask me.

If a tater ever gives you trash about our pending phase 2, just point and laugh at that erector set east side of theirs and know our stadium will soon be nicer. At least we'll have that.

A lot of pretty rich things in there given how just horrible their dump has been for decades.

Though I will say, in my first game at home in 5 years, I do wonder if we'll ever care to redo the east side, not for the erector set part but just like, it's the only thing that's a little "off" about the whole place. The new SEZ is nice but it feels like a cave compared to the WSC (which I got to spend the entire pregame in with my brother and spent about half the first quarter watching from the production booth).

The bleacher comment is actually, kinda accurate but in a different way for me. It's crazy how tight everything feels and I've sat in the seats I was in probably about 40 times over the years. I bet we never do anything as it would reduce the crap out of capacity but the amount of times I had to get up to have someone go by to go to the bathroom/get a drink/get food/ etc was constant for the entirety of the game save the 4th quarter. I don't think I sat longer than 5 minutes without someone needing to go by and having to get up for them. Like I get it happens but it was frankly at a level that it was downright distracting. My mom even made the comment it felt like a workout by the end, we probably got up for non-football game things about 40 times, and that isn't an exaggeration. NEZ just has so much more space and probably why I got used to not having to do that as often.

The NEZ is incredibly comfortable and spacious.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

i didn't want to get too philosophical for a monday morning, but I can't help but wonder:

If the Raytown MO Jayhawks were to win another home game this season...

a) do they rush the field based on principle? Kind of crazy that earlier this very season big10 foe The University of Illiniois Fightin' Illini fans rushed the field after defeating the Jayhawks of Raytown MO...but now will the rushees become the rushers? Something to think about. Kind of hard to believe how far things have come in just a couple of months!

b) if the opportunity DOES present itself...is this something they can do outside of Kansas University Memorial Stadium (located in Lawrence, KS)? Like even though KUMS East (occassionally referred to as GEHA field at Arrowhead Stadium, Raytown MO) is about as home field as it gets...i still have a hard time believing they would allow the wheat to be wove anywhere but from the seats.

You raise good questions, but do you suppose they'll have enough fans there to actually take down goalposts? Iowa State fans will likely outnumber them 2 to 1.

The Chiefs have a game the day after ISU/KU. If they rushed the field (they won't) and damaged the turf I would lose my marbles

KU wins, and Lance yells "hot seat!" following Matt up the tunnel.  That's my dream scenario.

So... our bros are around $200 million shy of covering the costs for the HALF of the stadium they're currently building with $20 million in NIL per year coming up (plus several more million if they move forward with all the new scholarship limits) and their developer "partners" are pressing them to finish the first half of the stadium and immediately move forward with starting the other half when the first half is done (even though they don't have enough to pay for the first half).

Maybe we can start a Go Fund Me or something to help them out? Would also be nice if they could join their K-State bros and become a self-sustaining athletic department at some point...
