What if the rock chalk chop intimidated our players?

We would still have nearly the entire 4th quarter to overcome.

great trip down memory lane.  I probably should cross post this in the getting old thread but the contrast between the the cats in our classic uniforms vs the hawks attempts of all possible combinations of red, blue, black, white and gray is emblematic to me.

how good would Daniel Thomas have been if he wasn't paired up with Grant Gregory and CCQ as qbs?

The arguments for Sproles and Deuce to be considered “the greatest” KSU RBs stands on its own, but if I’m being asked to draft a KSU RBs for some hypothetical team, it’s gonna be tough to convince me not to pick Dan Thomas.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Yeah, though I do think to a degree it depends on what you're trying to get. From a pure RB, it's Thomas. If you get a guy out in space, you gotta think Sproles/Deuce.

Who has more pressure this weekend, KSU Qhatz or the Rayhawks?

On one hand, K-State is fighting to stay in the hunt for a B12CCG appearance with little margin for error at this point in time.

Outside of the other side being utterly inept in every way.  It is my belief winning streaks of this length get harder to maintain.  There hasn't been an upset in this series since arguably the last time KU won in Manhattan.  KU is certainly capable.

On the other hand. KU has a "nothing to lose component" but IMO they have two if not three components fully offsetting that.  1.  The streak, the pressure just continues to build to break it the longer it goes. 2.  The season has already been a major disappointment and they have to win at least 4 more games in order to be bowl eligible. Not making a bowl means the season is a total failure  . . . and to a lessor extent 3 - a loss and not making a bowl is a potential drag on trying to get the necessary funds to fully complete their stadium project.

Does the winning streak getting harder to maintain offset the pressure to break the streak building?

I was at the Ace Hardware in Corinth on Monday and ran into KU Karl and Karla having an argument outside by the Mums (Halings greenhouse got torn down  :frown: ). Karla wanted just a couple more mums but Karl said it wasn't in the budget even after selling their remaining Arrowhead tickets and he is NOT going to sell any AFH tickets this year.

Apparently they had been having some margaritas at Salty Iguana beforehand and Karla let slip "And remember, we have to go to my sisters on Saturday at 6 for dinner and to watch the game".... This set Karl off and he spent about 2 minutes growling about "Those f'n taters" and how "Just because her husband is an engineer and designed our renovation doesn't mean he knows crap about how quickly it will get done"....I didn't catch the end of the conversation but I did hear "15 straight" and "Mangino would of never let this happen" as I walked out and they were still standing there arguing.

Lot of muttering between cubicles at the office as well.

Senior leadership just shuts their doors and tunes it out on the 2 days they show up at the office.

I would have guessed Johnny's for Karl and Karla's margaritas, but since Massa Seff is pimping Salty Iguana, I guess it makes sense.

This made me think of those high production value vids ku would make after every game with highlights from the game and if you didn't know any better you would have thought ku won even though it was like 49-7

The Gridiron. Yeah it looked like everything was going so well and just somehow fell apart at the end to make it a 40 point loss

Ah the Turner Gill years.

I thoroughly enjoyed that highlight video.

As for streaks, Nubs beat the Jayhawks for 36 straight years from 1969 until 2004 so... that's what I'd like to set our sights on.

Talk about a shitty year - in 1968, Nebraska lost to KU, K-State, Missouri and OU all in the same year. We obviously know what happened in the KU and KSU series, but Mizzou won again in 1969 and then only four times in the next 33 years, which included 24 straight wins for Nebraska from 1979-2002.

I wouldn't mind re-watching the 2018 game (I think). Wasn't that the one in MHK where they had two back to back break out runs that would have won the game for them, but both were brought back because of holding calls, and then a KU player went and stood on the second yellow flag that the ref threw drawing an additional 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The way I  remember it, he didn't just stand on the flag. The way I recall, he picked it up and tried to hide it. As if he were hoping the officials would forgot they threw it.
