I know this is going to turn out to be nothing, but how does it reach this point? They were announcing games would be played there MONTHS ago. How do you get down to hours left and still have no contract!?

Not sure, but however it played out the leverage the Chiefs have is unrivaled. I'd imagine its disagreements over gate or parking or concessions etc.

Perhaps they know what their options are on where they can play next year, but they are choosing not to say until later because of the options being bad?  Might be harder to recruit if you don’t play any home games, or something?

I just can't imagine the franchise is going to let them use their facility on a charity type basis.

They announced these games would be happening over 5,712 hours ago... but not having the finalized and signed docs within 48 hours of the first game is a "non-story".
