Last thing is that there has been a mass influx of MU and Syracuse grads into mass media, and how the mass media "generates" storylines via the ESPN method.  They can simply parrot a topic and if repeated enough, can become "the story".  MU grads, no explanation needed, but many Syracuse grads also seem to dislike KU.  Once something becomes "mainstream" it is hard to shake, much like even despite 2008 and 2012, the flameouts against UNI and VCU put us right back into the "choker" label.

Spoke with a KU fan last night who reassured me that KU's football program wouldn't see a return to prominence until LHC Bill Snyder retires. They did play an inspiring second half. If they can hang with Memphis on Saturday, I think they will turn some heads. ISU had better be afraid, because Beaty is cooking up a storm for them, and we all know what happens when it storms in Ames.

So, in a way, the fumbled snap and ball spike on their knees is just another cruel joke played in football purgatory.  It provides them with a bit of hope due to the rest of the second half, and then will come back to suck the life out of them slowly but surely over the next season or two.
