Football is such a drain of resources it should just go away.  They lose so much money it negates the huge profits basketball makes.  The entire AD would be better of if the money was spent on women's sports.

You really think we (football) don't lose money when you take out the charity of the Big 12 TV contract.  The big Addidas contract comes from...basketball.  We gave Turner ******* Gill about $3.5 million per win.  37,000 people in a 50,000 seat stadium isn't covering the operating costs.

Kansas does not have to be competing for conference championships in football, but we MUST somehow manage to field a Big 12 caliber football team. What I saw out there today would embarrass most high school programs...and the stench of quit one could smell across the TV.

This is important for our university. If futher reshuffling of the conferences happens, as many think it will, KANSAS must field a team capable of competing at the FBS level.

Sadly, what we witnessed today will drop attendance at Memorial by some 10,000 per game.

I agree with a real college football coach, but that's not going to happen with Charlie. This is going to be one of the ugliest conference seasons in a long time and our conference isn't even any good. We just had a team score 54 straight points against us at home. Charlie gets worse as he goes, just ask ND. By the end of the year nobody will be going to games and we'll look less competitive than the Gill years. This hire will haunt KU for a long time.

What is depressing is when we fire Weis next year, the cupboard will be pretty bare as we recruited like 6 effing high school players last year and will lose like 40 seniors

Canning Mangino was the biggest mistake in KU football history. That you guys can't see that shows just how clueless our fanbase truly is when it comes to football.

KU football will never have crazy amounts of talent on it - period. Go back and look at KSU's recruiting classes over the years and you'd think they're on par with LA Tech, but they were in the hunt for a BCS title last year.

You don't need a full stable of NFL caliber players to win a 5+ games per season. You need a coach who knows how to succeed at the BIG XII level.

Mark Mangino was 50-48 at Kansas, which is amazing taking into account his first year of turning it around (2-10) and last year when Lew sabotaged the season (5-7).

So far Turner and Weis are 8-32.

Mangino was the best thing that ever happened to KU football.

If winning a bowl game is a tailspin, what do you call the last 3 years? All the supposed problems mangino was facing according to all the "insiders" on the Internet (bad recruiting, assistant coach defections, transfers, mad parents), He still won 5 games in that last year. Do you know how far we are from 5 wins right now? We would throw a freaking parade if we got to that win total in a season

Just watch on TV.  But don't plan your entire day around KU football games.  That's what I've done since Mangino left.  There's no reason for a sensible human being to blow money/time on this program right now, especially every weekend.  Once you stop investing so much in them, then it's easier to not be angry about the results on the field.  If I was a season ticket holder, I'd be pissed right now.

I love the Off season. It's the most exciting time of the year for KU football. The last two off seasons have been so full of hope and promise. If we could just be in the off season all the time we could compete for the Big 12 championship,

That is very sad... on Homecoming no less. I think things are getting to the point where there is some legitimate concern for our future status if we can't put together an FBS level football program that can outdraw directional FCS programs and the service academies....

Basketball is great but it will not save us as a stand alone.

I actually laughed this past summer when either SI or ESPN ranked all of the D-I coaches from top to bottom. Weis was dead last in the Big 12 and close to the bottom for all schools. I thought at the time "how could he rank below Kingsbury who hasn't even coached a game yet?". Well, now I see how.

Will the performance on the field affect the stadium upgrade?
Or is the upgrade already set to start at the end of this season?  I would assume the less donations just means the more KU has to finance themselves, but could the poor on field performance actually delay the stadium renovations for at least another year?
