Just saw someone point out the Haze/Hayes/Hayze trio.

Not sure it goes ITT  but have we discussed the weird names boomer/elder GenX grandparents are going by these days? In my day you called your grandparent something like "Grandpa/grandma [insert last name]" or "Grandpa/grandma [insert first name]" for something super informal. These days, grandparents seem to go by whatever the first vocalization their grandchild makes in their direction. I don't like it.

My gf's neice's and nephews all call them weird names like that and its hard to keep them all straight. She is "nana" even tho she is not the grandma and her sister in law is "mimi" along with some other random names.

All the grandparents in my family are super protective over grandparent names.

I think my dislike of it is because I’ve watched so many women try to one-up each other with grandma names as if it’s an accessory.

Poppa seems like a pretty normal grandparent appelation. Need to hear more about Mema. Did Mrs Tom or the grandbaby come up with this? I learned from a  thread on reddit that there are grandparents out there demanding to be called names like "Diva" and "Juju"

These are the types of names I was thinking of. I don’t think Tom’s guilty. That link reminded me of one woman who named herself “Glammy.”
