SkiB, if it makes you feel any better, I thoroughly enjoyed AND understood the reference. I made the decision not to extend the sequence because I already felt a little embarrassed about how aggressively I pursued the joke.

better question- if you have a kid and name in something but call him something else, why didn't you just name him the thing that you call him?

My friend wanted to name her daughter Aly, but she was afraid when the daughter grew up she would think the name was too childish/non-professional so she made her actual name Alyssa. Actually she wanted to spell it Ali (which would then be confusing on how it was pronounced) but went with Aly once she decided on Alyssa.
