much like LA,

Dallas (not fort worth) is overrun with:

"30k millionaires"
500 foot tall overpasses
endless 12 lane freeways
endless chains and strip malls all built in the last 25 years
rough ridin' incredibly hot males and females
"i'll be right there in an hour and a half"
nobody smoking cigarettes like, anywhere
valet parking only

that's what I mean. just the vibe of all that stuff.

while you can't compare anywhere else in the good ol USA to LA, i would say that dallas is probably the closest. like dallas and phoenix is a fine comparo but if you had to compare either to LA, you'd go with dallas. and yeah, the valet parking scene in dallas is just stupid. pretty sure chikfilet valet parks.

cool, alright guys yup.  dallas = the world.  we're good to go!
what city should we do next?  chicago?  NY?  definitely no good looking people in those cities and for sure no 30k millionaires. valet parking? never heard of it.  just park on the lawn.

i guess we're all right here folks.  everyone wins, high fives!

i've spent 12 nights in downtown chicago over the past three years and around 30 in dallas over the past eight. those two cities are nothing alike. swing and a miss.

I've never lived in Dallas or LA but I've traveled to both cities extensively for business and I can't think of two cities that are more different.

Dallas seemed like a bunch of midwesterners with their midwestern values who love fine dining at an endless array of chain restaurants while driving their trucks on highways that aren't backed up for miles on end.

LA seemed like a melting pot of a city with vastly superior dining choices that can take you 15 minutes to reach per each mile on the highway.  The very same highways where people drive their leased luxury cars that most of them can't afford because in LA appearances matter a hell of a lot more than they do in Dallas.

it doesn't sound like you've spent a lot of time in downtown dallas or some of the areas just north of downtown dallas and hey, that's ok.

and that's great because you have all the data and that's  because you're rick daris citymaster esq.
without you, there would be no city information.  like i said, hopefully judge judy takes the appeal and we can go from there.

not sure.  i need to find an appealmaster.  he/she will give me that data.  ftb.

in LA appearances matter a hell of a lot more than they do in Dallas.

this is as far from the truth as possible, and in fact the reason i compared the two in the first place. like daris said, you must never have been to uptown or downtown or north dallas, or really any part of dallas.

I've been to Medieval Times in Dallas and I didn't get that feeling.

Admittedly I've spent more time in downtown LA than in Dallas where more of my business is in the burbs.  I'm always open to new things so can you recommend a nice place/area to stay in downtown Dallas?  I've got a trip scheduled there late summer to visit a rep down there.

I'll report my findings upon return.

we have 2 types of non-believers here:

1. clams, who loves LA a lot (deservedly so) and doesn't want to see its name tarnished by comparing it to Dallas (or anywhere really), but is blind to some pretty major and obvious similarities
2. retards who think we are talking about either A) cowboy hat belt buckle spurs and boots-wearing monster truck driving herp derps from fort worth or B) tucked in jorts wearing small town midwesterners who visit Arlington. either way the image-conscious Dallas that i'm talking about is a foreign concept to these folks
