Even ubers are kind of bullshit when you think about it. You have to walk all the way from wherever you were sitting on your ass out to a street where the car is. The driver should come right to your body and carry you piggyback to the car and do the same to deliver you to a barstool.
you're mistaking wanting to get somewhere faster for laziness.
Anything from 0 to 10 minutes is nothing, particularly in the context of bar-hopping.
well a ten minute walk to a streetcar and riding on the streetcar and walking ten minutes to wherever you want to go probably adds 20-25 minutes or so over an uber trip.
I see the distinction you're making now.
People who are already using public transit won't have any issue w/the transit stop being a 10-minute walk from the destination. People not used to it, and who probably drove/uber'd to the first destination anyway, will think that's dumb.
Traffic matters too. In dense cities, uber'n through traffic wouldn't be quicker than transit'n and walking. Probably not an issue there. That's something I always hated about KC - how far away things were from each other, and that they weren't good enough things to be worth the effort.
Isn't the streetcar supposed to be a baby step to having real metro-wide transit? If/when you get to a point of being able to train from Overland Park to Westport, possibly having to walk that last 10 minutes will be unnoticeable.
