i value some peoples' opinions.  stevesie and i have very similar tastes for instance, so when he tells me a band i should listen to, i'll take it to heart.

if stevesie said "spoon sucks live" i'd be more likely not to go see spoon than if someone else said that.

Weezer is like one of my favorite bands of all time and they suck live. Like, freaking Cake stole the show of that concert I went to. I was so sad. They also didn't play Island in the sun.

They definitely mailed it in the night I watched them in High school. I saw them later on through work at the river market and it was a better show the second time. So there's that, 8man.

Spoon is fantastic live. So is Cake. I have heard negative things about Weezer tbh. Grizzly Bear is v. good too if you're a fan of their music (I am).

Also... heard a rumor that mocat has good taste in music but always wants to leave the concert early so take it fwiw

Cake is worse than spoon. Only worse band I've seen than cake was matchbox 20 at some festival. Cake literally stopped the show and lectured the audience how uncool crowd surfing is and then 10 minutes later threatened to walk off when people didn't stop doing it. No one cared because they sucked anyway.

Good stuff. I think I hate good bands live when they don't play my favorite song of theirs. Obviously 311 doesn't suck, but they didn't play love song and it made me really sad.

So now we may be getting somewhere... Love Song and Island in the Sun are both good, but Love Song is a cover song that they haven’t played much except for the few years after they released it.

Yeah, I know. It makes sense. Just sucks when I get all jacked up to hear one of my top 5 songs of all time and they leave me hanging. Love song I get, Island in the sun I don't, but maybe they were just having an off night. Like I said, they had more energy the next time I saw them in town.

yes cake has said publicly they absolutely hate touring and only do it bc they have to. iirc at their last city market show they made a tornado joke like the week after Joplin happened
