The KCI vote would have totally failed back when they took that poll you love to reference....but polls are not the will of the voter.  Their message on KCI needed to be clearer obviously.  Voters still have November to decide.  I'll bet right now it passes....because the message is clearer.

I'm sure many of the retards on here are just trolling their ignorance of the funding, but fyi...

The TDD funding is 1% sales tax + special assessment on residential/commercial property.  The special property assessment is $0.70 for every $100 in assessed value (residential) and $0.48 for every $100 in assessed value (commercial).  KC issued bonds to pay for the $60million streetcar construction and the TDD funds pay off the bonds.  So every additional structure built within the TDD adds revenue to the TDD, minimizing future payments of the sales tax and property assessment.

yeah, it's not an income tax.  and, since it's not paid for out of the city's general fund, the streetcar is not paid for by a re-allocation of taxpayer's $$$ that would have otherwise gone to fund KCMO schools, police, infrastructure, etc.  So, for KCMO residents like Clams that never come downtown, they never contribute a single penny directly or indirectly to pay for the streetcar.  Even if they spent $5K on meals/entertainment/goods/services from one of the countless new businesses and developments that have popped up within the TDD, their contribution would be a measly $50.
