How is it related to the streetcar? I missed that discusso
Partially due to streetcar running part of the same route but this is really to do with RideKC consolidating lines to fewer streets for ease of usability. Most NS downtown lines will run down grand and most EW lines will run 11th/12th. This will also eliminate the transit plaza at 10th and main and new transit plazas will sprout up but I can't remember those locations but around Barney Allis plaza, somewhere on the east side around 11th and also at 3rd and grand I believe as part of the reconstruction of that surface lot.
I think it's a good move for the MAX as it straightens it out and makes the timing more realiable. It's weaving through the central business district while handy for those further west, made it slow.
When the streetcar ends up going to UMKC I could see the MAX moving off of main south of crown center. Not sure studies have been done on what route it would take but I'd guess gillham or Broadway?
My worry with moving all the routes to grand is how often Sprint center closes grand and will force multiple reroutes.
