Not downtown. It just barely got a breath in 2005. "City of fountains", which I grew up with resides around the plaza. Downtown was for the Costinoes and defenbaugh to get rid of dead bodies before

It's a legitimate question. I never went down there growing up (Eudora). We mainly did the mall, the plaza, and occasionally the west bottoms (the golden ox) every once and awhile.

So downtown wasn't a shell of itself before 2005? You guys believe this? Sprint center, PNL, Kauffman center, Alamo drafthouse, SC, the restaurants that surrounded the growth, etc. WTF were guys doing down there before all of this?

as I kid in the late 80s, early 90s I remember going down to a big new sporting goods store (Gart Brothers?) that had some kind of indoor snow skiing hill.  It didn't last but maybe a 2 or 3 years I think.

The other thing I remember hearing about (and driving by) was the Old Chelsea porn theatre but I never went in.

Ok, let's just all agree no one went downtown until 2005, what the eff does that have to do with the streetcar being a success or not?

sad but not surprised.  sly just refuses to listen to his constituents b/c he thinks his perspective is more valuable than ours. instead of taking no for an answer which we resoundingly told him, he's circumventing our "no" and costing the city more $$.  what a complete douche.

It's still going up for a vote.

When did "we" tell him resoundingly no clams?

you know exactly when.  http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article75381617.html

and votes are expensive, right?  but he's willing to put it up for a vote since he's in favor of it. odd his/yours (same thing) stance on it.  why not just have the folks in the immediately vicinity of the airport be allowed to vote and only after requesting a special ballot???

Resoundingly saying no would be a vote that said no to me but whatever you need to fit your rants....how other it.

I honestly don't see why this needs a vote at all. The city wouldn't even issue bonds. Do we vote Everytime someone wants to build an office building?

Evenso...let the people vote on it given it is the airport.

like, sorry Fairfax plant nobody drives GM cars anymore and we need to land 747s right there.

2nd bonus: the airport would be partially in the dotte and they are super loaded rn and would help pay for it.

That was one of the original plans....and would be awesome....and isn't going to happen.

resoundingly saying no is resoundingly saying no.  which is what your boy understood when he took his ball and went home (after researching if TDD's applied to airport votes and finding out that they didn't).

regardless, it's sad to see you back this B&D plan considering how much more it's going to cost the city.  sad.

what could go wrong when not competitive bidding a billion dollar project?

Ultimately people that fly out of the airport are paying for it, so they should vote on it.
