http://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/stealing-spaces-kansas-city-parking-problems-exposed

saw this on the news last night from awesome and not weird reporter ariel rothfield

it's something i've been interested since a lot of it is focused on where i live
downtown doesn't seem like an issue at all but valet and carryout only parking spots on the plaza have gotten out of control.  the kcmo parking guy acted like the carry-out only spots aren't allowed and that they're trying to crack down on them but that's a load of crap b/c the same signs have been outside the same plaza restaurants for years.

Where these signs are placed....Are they officially loading zones so shouldn't be parking there for any length of time anyways?

carry out spots-
bo lings 3 spots on street:  jefferson and 47th, on jefferson
jackstack 3 spots, maybe 4 on street: wyandotte in front of their carry out
zoe's might be a loading zone, not sure never go over that far or paid attention

valet
all the valet on the plaza pick cars up in front/next to the restaurants that they're assigned to then go park the cars in a private area in the closest garage (we can get into how they get away with that later) except for The Oliver, they actually take 4-5 on-street spots which is kinda incredible to think about in late november/december because the garages and the on streets are all full that time of year.

it's a sham.  the plaza is getting paid by the valet company to allow them their own private garage space, the city is getting paid by the valet company for the permit, and the city streets which i've already paid to pave and maintain, are off limits to me.

i noticed last week that vinca just bought a loading zone permit on jefferson, the owner essentially bought himself a private parking spot in what used to be a public space.  the fedex and ups delivery drivers park on 48th when they make his deliveries as the spot isn't big enough for anything but a regular sized vehicle

i'm guessing he lied on his application or it was just rubber stamped

And you are paying for the garages Everytime you buy something on the plaza.

Make them apply for loading zone or valet only zone with the city...Report unofficial signs to 311....Easy solution here.
