I don't think United is getting rid of their Denver hub any time soon.

http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/earth_to_power/2014/08/united.html

Keep in mind this information came from someone who thinks mkc is sufficient for kc (I don't think a 737 can even take off from mkc)

yeah, it's so small only 747's and C-5's can land there

http://realmoney.thestreet.com/articles/04/28/2016/would-united-be-stronger-if-divided

Quote
The solution, to some at least, is a revamp or perhaps a slice-and-dice of United's sprawling U.S. network. United takes great pride in its expansive route map, but if the company is unable to generate returns that match those of rivals, what's the point?

MKC has 6800' of runway. Midway is one of the busiest in the nation by movements with 6500'.

I understand that MKC has some reputation amongst the flatland sheeple that populate the surrounding metro, but it's really not difficult or special. Commercial ops were moved due to a failed bid to become a TWA super hub, which didn't pan out. It has precision approaches now and is 'safer' than ever.

The downtown airport should be the kc airport, I like that idea.  The current location is incredibly inconvenient.  Start the movement.  #savemkc

Dont eff with my corporate air traffic.

Actually an airline out of mkc would be pretty amazing... But no way it could become a KCI replacement.

Gatwick does 40.3 million a year with one runway.

Imagine riding the streetcar across the river to a sexy new airport terminal .

The streetcar has been running a simulated schedule that mirrors frequency and hours of operation for 2 to 3 weeks now... Zero wrecks. Drivers are learning!

Oh crap, I planned a great weekend to come to KC. I'm going to drive 5 or 6 miles, park my car at Union Station and then ride the streetcar up to P&L. I'll pak my face off at PBR until 1am, then catch the streetcar to Union Station, and KSUBrian my way back home!
:adios:

losing 85 cop jobs, despite passing sly's earnings tax.  hopefully the new billion dollar terminal is crime free.

That's pretty concerning, especially considering Kansas City Missouri is already one of the most violent cities in the country.
