Yeah, I mean, it's not NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.

KC is a middle tier city with some cool stuff to offer.  Good place to live.

product design/engineering/sourcing/qa

I'm in product design/engineering.  :D

But ya I've been here 8 years.  Haven't been tempted to move on yet.  I don't actually do the design, BTW, just the project management, which I guess is more transferable.

Yeah, jobs like that definitely exist. But are there many companies in kc you think you could (or would want to) go to if you wanted to make a change?

I'm contemplating the consulting engineering gig, which KC is about the best place in the world for, but I'd like to stick with some sort of innovation/development type deal for a while.  Where you are would be a pretty cool place to work with all those start-ups.  We're always interfacing with folks from over there and it seems fun.  I'm kinda risk averse, though.

We moved in the little corridor between 119th and 135th and Metcalf and Nall.

I have yet to find anything that's not within one mile of my house.  My wife planned a shopping trip with about eight stops in it last weekend, and they were all within a mile of our house.

Christ, there's a Varney's on 135th and Nall in Prairie Fire.

Basically, I'm saying that I now understand why everyone who moves to JoCo stays there.  It's a nice place to live when you get old and lazy.

I mow my yard and go to Home Depot a lot.  Stop at Dairy Queen for a blizzard.  BBS, read, and watch some Netflix.

It's not exciting, but I like it, and Kansas City is kind of the perfect place for a slow life like that.

I know. My buddy lives down by 119th and his gf is at 135th. They both work at farmers. He use to live downtown before he moved down there to be closer to her and now he acts like coming downtown is the biggest hassle ever. It just really annoys me cause he use to be a downtown snob and now doesn't want to visit when the rolls are reversed.  :curse:

Yeah, I don't have that.

There's a Bo Lings off of 135th, but yeah, we're missing that.

On the plus side, Cinetopia and a bowling alley/bistro hybrid.

I really hated to use that word, but I couldn't think of any other single word that encompassed anything interesting.

what I don't get is people living in a town they don't want to live in. decide where you want to be and then make it happen. in terms of easy to hard, that is like second grade type crap.
