Literally 95% of people in the metro are flying one or fewer times a year. WGAF?

What if instead of the airport we extended the street car into OP? Seems like that would be better. Most people go downtown more than 1-3 times a year.

not to harp on how jealous i am of a real city like denver but their airport is somehow even farther away from everything than ours, and yet they have a train on dedicated tracks running every 30 minutes to union station for $10.50. and once you're there they have trains going out to all corners of the suburbs.

and yes it was expensive and a giant PITA to build and i'm sure it took forever, and traffic during construction must have had the denver wackycats wearing out the term crap show. but look at it.

Yeah, what they built is pretty sweet. Makes tons of sense for both tourists and residents.

It sure would be nice.  Our density sucks which hurts us.  We didn't strike when the sweet federal money was available.  We have no traffic pushing for transit options.  Not to mention two states.  Lot against us.

The good part is not having a convenient mass transit system like Denver makes KC way less appealing to companies/people thinking about relocating here, keeping population (and cost of living) down.

I don't think this is much of a factor of relocation given we have zero traffic.

I do think it would have been good timing to do light rail from south KC all the way to the airport with various stops for parking and etc.
no one would choose to take that

Agreed. It would also cost a bajillion
Denver did it and it is completely badass

I remember being at a open forum at the downtown kc library about updating the airport, and when they opened the floor up to the crazies, one guy said he had plan to make a subway from downtown to KCI for like $20 mil only, I laughed my ass off

Great point, I wouldn't trade KC's level of highway traffic for Denver's mass transit system.

Yeah, I was planning to traverse the KC metro recently (first time being there in a decade) and asked my friend there what time rush hour dies down. "Yeah, we don't really have rush hour...."

Cities are dumb.  Hey let's live in extremely close proximity to several million people.  Hey that's a great idea...if you're a dumb idiot.

The OP has a river market and I have to deal with less, gross smelly looking people from Missouri now. It's a win-win.

while OP does have a farmer's market, it is located at one of the highest points in the city and therefore there is no river there
