There is a lot of information contained in the plat books. For example, I just learned that JD Bowersock (as in Bowersock Hydroelectric Dam in Lawrence) used to own land in western Saline County in 1903.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

That's a cool and informative map, esp. when you make it full-sized!
I wish the colors were easier to tell apart.

It makes Greenland look like it is a single gigantic mountain.

Also looks like they just cut it out of the Hudson Bay.

Found one from 1882 for my home county. Now i'm on a hunt for more information about the original homesteader of our home place. We weren't aware of this original name/family. Wish more deed info was online.

Contact the county register(I think that the name, basically whoever keeps tracks of deeds/land ownership) and they will send you a copy of everyone who has owned that land before. I did it for the cat ranch in western KS.

Even included bank/mortgage information

I don't really know what "DC style" is. Suits? I have some comfortable suits, though.

I don't really know what "Chicago style" is, either. And I've been there quite a bit.

Compared with other clothes, suits are uncomfortable. Mostly the collar and tie.

When I was a student, I really enjoyed how dense and compact Manhattan is. As an old, it's why I'll never move back there until I'm maybe a really old. I say that currently living in the one American city most closely compared to Manhattan. I can literally go weeks without having to see or deal with large groups of 19 year olds and all that entails, I could never imagine that happening in Manhattan.

pretty sure we have argued about SF neighborhood names before...this is cool even if you don't know the actual neighborhoods:
