Have you guys seen 25th Hour? Great movie all around, but PSH was great in it. Hell, he made MI3 good.

PSH was good in it but all the credit goes to Norton in that one. Anna Paquin still creeped me the eff out.

Agreed. Rosario Dawson also killed it.

Agree with Bread's list.  Two honorable mentions:

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was awesome in Capote
Leo in Departed

I could watch him all day.  Arguably one of the most adaptable actors in the game imo.  plays a lovable loser/funny guy in Twister, suit wearing bitch in Big Lebowski, indescribably awesome character in Capote, zero fucks given badass in Charlie Wilson's War, etc. I'd continue, but embarrasingly enough, I have not seen The Master yet.

possible shame post with my obession with PSH.

I'm with ya, Rick.  He doesn't get near enough credit because he's too often in the supporting role, but he's absolutely phenomenal.  I haven't seen The Master yet either though  :frown:

all sorts of good stuff happened in Synecdoche New York. crap even his performance in Twister is great.

When there was an actor portraying the actor portraying PSH's character, man. So good.

Another 1999 movie that was awesome was Magnolia.  John C. Reilly + PSH + Raining Frogs = Win

Tom Cruise's best performance.

Dead on Jakesie!  Cruise was a stud in Tropic Thunder as well, but I prefer Magnolia.

since this is now a PSH thread, his best movie is doubt.  second best is before the devil knows you're dead.

i'm sure it made no sense if you are a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) and can't follow a film's storyline.

Magnolia and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead are similar in the fact that they are both extremely depressing

Ignore me. I just realized I was thinking about Vanilla Sky. Hated that film. Have never seen Magnolia. Thanks for setting me straight, Seven.

Willesgirl...watch that movie.  It's awesome.  I'm a Life Aquatic guy myself (Moonrise Kingdom and Darjeerling Limited are also solid), but Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore are just the best.

1. Christoph Waltz- Inglorious Basterds
2. Heath Ledger- The Dark Knight
3. *Daniel Day-Lewis- Gangs of New York

*Think Gangs is DDL's best movie, but I haven't seen Lincoln yet.

You know what?  I second the Bill The Butcher nomi.  Man ddl as a villain, it just doesn't get any better than that.  Also not a coincidence that all of mine are bad persons.

One of my favorites was David Strathairn in Good Night and Good Luck.

I also loved Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (great movie)

Val Kilmer was also tremendous in that one.  I would actually give him the nomi over rdj for kkbb performances.

 most underrated movie ever? possibly.

Val: Look up "idiot" in the dictionary, do you know what you'll find?
Downey: A picture of me?
Val: No. The definition of the word "idiot", which you rough ridin' are.

That movie is freaking awesome.

I felt like I discovered a hidden treasure when I watched it.  Like where the eff did this come from and why isn't everybody essing its dee?

i don't mean to be mean, but royal tenenbaums is widely regarded by anyone who is not a dumb eff as one of wes anderson's worst movies and yet you keep bringing it up like it's his best work.   why?

Agreed. If you watch it close to watching Tombstone, it's really hard to believe it's the same person.
